View Full Version : Brom Painting
kyphur 03-18-2002, 10:12 PM Hello, I just finished my Surfaces, Shaders and Lighting class which is basically an intro to Maya class. As our final we had to pick a painting and reproduce it in 3D. It was our second major, project in the class and I think I bit off a bit more than I could chew as far as time-wise. I didn't get to texture it and I was working on it up till about four hours before the class. Two days no sleep for three studio classes isn't too fun. Well, here it is...

It's all polygonal and I didn't convert it to SubD to smooth it out. I like it with the boxiness because it looks more like a statue.
Questions, comments and critiques welcome.

I also asked Brom if it was o.k. to use which he said it was.

I think unsmoothed polys are very under rated. I find alot of times after models get smoothed they lose their edge (pardon the pun).
Beautiful work, by the way. :applause: :applause: :applause:
I really love angel imagery.
Is that it or are you still working on it?
Either way Good luck.

 Wow, really good work. I like it very much right now, without smooth and textures. I saw the original painting before and I think that your work it's very good. No critics, what can I say? your work it's much better than my best model.
Sorry for my English

I'd very much like to finish it with texturing and so forth... there's still a couple of little things that need to be finished with the modeling as far as the side plates of armor on her hips.
It'll probably be a day or two before I start back up on her. I've spent the last four days of last week almost with no sleep working on her, my video project AND a houdini animation project. Needless to say I'm still recooperating.
So yeah, I'd like to finish it but I'd also like to enjoy my break with my wife some. :)
Next monday class starts back up and I have 3D Character Animation, Compositing and Electronic Art. I'm looking forward to them all and know that my schedule's a bit tight. So I'll trrrrryyyy to get this piece completed with textures by next week.
Anyways, thanks for the compliments.
