well, its no thirdeye head, i was trying to get a cartoony effect on him, as photorealistic stuff is a bit too hard for me... also you might notice he has no ears, this is still kinda a WIP.. so if anyone has tips on how to make good ears, they would be very helpful. This is my 1st go at modelling point by point, its very time consuming but gives better results than box modelling imo... so... C&C anyone? :wavey:

I like the style, but it doesn't really show the power of poly modelling.

you should try out the tutorial at evil-plan.com (http://www.evil-plan.com)

It's worth the time, I promise

just had a look at that tut... i might do it at some point, but really i do this only as a hobby (im 15 and not ready for a job in 3d), so i take things slowly, ive been into c4d for about a year, and as you can see sky skills are of quite a low calibre.. but thanks for the tuts, i'll have a look through them at some point

Modeling an ear is probably the hardest part of modeling a head. But, the Meisse tutorial has great instructions on how to go about this, not to mention how to model a complete character. Here is the direct link to this tutorial:

It's a really cool model, but if you refuse to push the envelope because of your age -it's going to be a while before you get better!

You definitely have the talent! The Evil-plan tutorial walks your hand through the whole thing! If you need any help, feel more than free to IM me!

(You can find my screen name on my website, I'm not gonna post it because I get SPAM IMs)

agreed, adrian. i wish, programs like C4D XL R8 or Lightwave 7 or Maya would have been around when i was 15 ;) :bounce:

anyway, carrot, as you are working on a cartoon-character, you might wanna try a cartoon-style ear instead of a realistic ear as the meisse tut is showing.
maybe the attached image will give you an idea.. i would suggest to keep it simple for your char

Oh my god! Ya I was using Swivel 3D back in 1986 on a freaking Mac Plus for crying out loud! :P

When I was 15, we didn't have none of that computer crap. All we had was legos! And we liked it!

You kids have it so darn easy! :)

adrian: ok, i've taken a few minutes to read through the tutorial and to think about how to do it using cinema.. you might have seen this question coming, but in the ear tut, how can i replicate the effect of the spin polys tool?

cosmic bear: thank's i'll see how that looks..

You have to select the polys... and manually spin them.

That ear tut is really good, but you don't wan t to make that before you make the face.

manually spin as in.. delete the poly(s) and make new polys in the position i want them in?
