View Full Version : LEGOs (yes, I know they've been done)
klschuff 01-30-2003, 06:54 PM Okay, here's one of my attempts at LEGO modeling. No, I did not use the Ldraw libraries, didn't even find 'em until I was done. Let me know what you think!
there's a larger one at

Still have love legos even if they have been done. At least you made an X-wing out of them. Most ppl just throw them together. I really like the model. Were you planning to work on it some more? Like the shading could use a little reflectivity to add to that plasticy feel. Hell, run with it. Model a whole lego Death Star Valley to fly it thru...now that'd rock!

The trench... yes I started working on that a little while back. Ended up killing my computer... so I may have to fudge it with a map on a plane with a couple pieces sticking out to give it flavor. When I tried to do it solely with the pieces I made....... ouch. 8-)
As far as the shading goes, yes that is in progress... This was my first experience using Brazil, and so far I'm very impressed. I have an Tie fighter that I'm done with, and (alas) I had a Y-wing that mysteriously disappeared when I reformatted. Thx for the Imput though!

I love it, brazil did that? I'm getting brazil soon... Not a legal copy, but i'm just getting it to see if it's worth the time and money and such because currently the public versions for download aren't available. I love your use of primitives, unless I'm mistaken... heh but it looks great, it reminds me of real the instant I look at it. And you made a Y wing as well? thats a shame it's gone, I would have loved to have seen it if it was anything like this model. anyways, I really like it =) This is a wip? It seems finished somehow. later then :)

Yes, tis a shame that it is gone. Maybe I'll re-do it this weekend. Basically all the shapes started from primatives, a few modifications here and there. The poly count is a bit high, , but I'm working on cleaning up the shapes. Last winter I threw together a 10 second clip of a fleet of xwings and ywings cruising past a planet. It turned out really well, I would have loved to see what it would have looked like with Brazil.
As far as Brazil goes - It's just the defaults with a skylight. That's it, the rest are all standard Max materials.
I consider it a WIP, I'm always going back and tweaking it, still needs landing gear, a pilot, R2 unit, etc...

d'oh, was going to include my poly count. Bout 38K. It does hold up at any angle though. Here's a wireframe for fun.
Its nice, but it doesn't look plastic to me? maybe make it shinier?

Good call, I'll have to work on that.
