Is there any advantage of saving a final render to a 32bit floating point picture. When doing post on the picture, is it easier to control the light levels and so forth?

Thanks
Peter

Many renderers these days will do everything internally at 32 bit float and then clamp the image down to whatever your saving out(8bit/16bit, etc...). Stuff like motion blur, you preserve those bright white highlights that streak in real life on film which just turn to grey at 8/16bit.

Many places stick with 16 bit clamped/float just fine though.
