MS owning Vivendi does not mean that MS will onl support MS. (Office is on Mac, for example...) Their job is to make money, so if Mac's a significant audience they'll definitely cater to them. The reason is that people won't say "Shit, I can't play this on my Mac, I'm going to buy a PC now..."
Now whether or not they do it could be up in the air, particularly if they don't make a lot of money on Mac sales. But if they do axe it, it's not necessarily because Mac is a 'foe' of MS.

I hope they do buy Vivendi. They will be able to pump money into them and help them get their games out faster, and MS has been really hands off when it comes to their game companies.

Remember Age of Empires (1 and 2)? Those games were very refined, and it showed. If that's any indication...

not to mention getting VUG will give MS a nice array of developpers for their Xbox.

*Shrug* It wouldn't have been very successful on the PC. You can't throw a rock without hitting 4 or 5 shooter games on PC.

yeah, it was suppose to give Tribes a run for it's money. i think it would of been great since Tribes2 had alot of problems and the whole following of team base FPS needed a futurist game. look at Battlefield 1942 and how much of a crowd that has.
MS could do some good stuff with this, but the thought of losing Counter Strike and any Blizzard game to XBOX instead of PC scares me [i need a mouse and keyboard to play those games]

PC Halo. The engine was crazy and the team based gameplay taken from tribes would have been insane. No, its a shame it never happened.

Why is it everytime MS buys up a company everybody screams fire?
So far they have done more good to the game industry than many a company (money/funding wise that is.)
If it was for them a lot of these companies would still have been struggling to get their heads up or would have gone bankrupt.
Companies buying up companies happens everyday, it's only when someone like MS buys something people go out on a witchhunt. (I didn't hear too many people scream when 'some company' bought up a very good piece of composite software and decided to ditch a large part of their customer base for the sake of a grudge.)

HOLY COW RED!! are you kidding with that last comment about the compositing software?!?? Dude, do a search in this forum for it and there are REAMS of screams from haters that went on for days and days, I never thought it would end..... my friend, you have what is commonly known as "selective memory"

Why so many MS slaggings off, if u don't like them or there product then don't buy it... simple as that really...
I can't say that I love there products but then it let's me get on with the job in hand, with maybe at least 2 crashes a day on a bad day...
