head i'm working on (http://www.xs4all.nl/~vbest/lofthead.jpg)
I have modeled this nurbs head with 1 loft and now trying to add detail. I tried to add some horizontal isoparms to create the eyelid etc. but when I did that the side of the head got a little bumpy but with so many isoparms it became uneditable....

Are there any other ways to create the eyelids?

Also when i make the corners of the mouth very sharp the rest of the face starts to look like shit.

Already read a lot of tutorials on the subject but most of them lack detail of the modeling process, are there any tricks to fix these problems or do I just have to add more isoparms and spend some more hours pulling points?

not sure what that program is, so I'm not sure what tools you have available...but ... You might think about trying to do the Eye, much like you have done the mouth. Lofted heads like that can be tough to work with, as you have already encountered.

If you havent already, maybe check out the Head tutorial here...

http://www.secondreality.ch/tutorials/modelling/head.html

if those are not of any help... their not Nurbs based...

this one here... is Poly based.. But could be done with Nurbs patches...

It's rhino.

I did a poly head before, and that worked out fine because you can add points where you want them. Now i'm trying to master nurbs, which is failing, but when I start adding detail like the eye, i can only add detail to the whole head because of those stupid isoparms. Therefore I thought am I missing a little nurbs trick? But I guess not :annoyed:

thanks for the tutorials though!! Had seen 1 before but they're all very helpful

Steven Stahlberg used to have some Nurbs head modeling tutorials, in which he explained how he built his older nurbs 3d heads... I haven't seen them online for ages though, as they were made a few years ago... He uses Subdivs nowadays anywayz.

Hi,

I met the same problem when I tried to make a NURBS head.

At the time I need to make the eyelid, I have to add many isoparms in two directions in order to isolate the eye part from outside part. You know, if you don't have enough isoparms between those two parts, the change of a eye's CV can easily spead to somewhere you don't expect.

Anyway, A CV is powerful enough to do what you can't imagine.

My 2 cents, hope helpful

I have that tutorial in PDF format. It's over 6mb archived though. If anybody wants it, we can figure something out.

But of course :) Send me your email address. I'd have to split it into few parts with RAR because I use hotmail and they limit the size of attachments :-\ Is it ok?
