ok, again im trying to model something to improve my skills, and again i´ll just post some pics here, hoping to keep my motivated in actually finishing that thing.

design is from a sketch off of fineart.sk. the sketch turned out to be a bit off perspectivewise so ive improvised a bit and im not quite sure which direction to finish this thing since i dont really like the upper part of the sketch. enough talk, heres a piktschure.

I heard about that movie, i wonder if it's worth a watch. Up in this northern country i'd never find it, but when i'm away from here i might. I like the model so far, it would look cool if the shaders were softer and white when rendered, but then I'm not the guy to ask or say about how things should look, hehe. Off of fineart.sk? I like that place, it has good references and pictures to make textures with. Anyhw, I'll be checking for updates, I like this so far. buhbyes :)

Looks great so far  It's amazing though that robotic armour suits could be equipped with high heels.

The rest of this post is useless historical data.

Bubblegum Crisis was a cool series, I rented it about 8 years ago at a little video store in Quebec (so Aerestis you should be able to find it somewhere in this frozen land, I bought a few episodes of it at the Blockbuster in my town in Ontario about 3 years ago too). There were 8 parts in the first series, then it was followed up by a Blade Runner-ish mature series called AD Police Files, then came Bubble Gum Crash, and the original Crisis was remade or something last year. There are alot of cool robot designs through out, mostly the evil boomer bots, but the 4 girls each had a different suit of armour from what I recall.

It's a very stylish, cyberpunk anime show. I saw it years ago. It was one of my favorite series at the time. Kind of an anime all girl a-team vs. the evil corporation builting boomas (aka terminators) in a blade runner setting. Sounds funny but it has some cool action and the boomas when they shed their skin to go into action look very cool. I'd suggest renting them.

I think a second series was put together but used younger characters and bigger, cooler boomas.

well well, im still going. finally found some time to update the model a little bit. next are the hands, and then i guess the back or the head.

since i still am not quite sure how everything actually looks like i might be doing some freestyle in some places..

end result will hopefully be toon shaded, btw.

Cool!

Maybe you should give it more corners. Don't know the english word for it. But it's now all smooth. So it looks very humanoid wild metal protection clothes if you understand what I mean.

But it looks nice :)

the arms and the finger look funny looking to me.They look to wide but the concept art looks like that. But besides that the model is great. I was going to do the same model early but i cann't to girl models. the toon shader looks great too. keep up the work

I like the model , but I think that a realistic Shader could work well for a better result ( just a speculation ).

It´s going to be a great job

Hey Stimpy.. this is great man! i've seen covers of the series but never seen it either, but from the looks of it it seems you're definatelly getting it right. Also, the toonshader is awesome, it makes it look like a 2d drawing straight out of an anime series. Keep up the good work!

it's a nice model.
but it seems a little too chubby to me (according to my memory). it should be better if u slim her up.
especially her hip.
the body needs to be a little longer.
other than that. good job.

Stimpy

i think i somehow funked up the aspect ratio when rendering or something... i think thats why shes kind of chubby looking... she looks more elegant in my OGL view...

i´ll look into that. right now im trying to get the helmet done, and then i guess i´ll start a tweaking session to make her look right overall...

Stimpy

working on the helmet... slowly getting there.

COOL.... but darnit I was going to model one of those some day when I actually learn LW7.

I actually have this book published by Antarctic press that has schematical drawings of all the armor suits like that from the show (bubblegum crisis). They look like the sketches you posted.

*eidit*

ooh I just noticed that fineart.sk has most of the same drawings I think.

Oh well... "good jorb there homestar." ;)

I have a book with all sorts of Bubblegum Crisis sketches and plans of different stuff from the old movies.

I might try to scan some in if your interested in other characters and vehicals.

great lookin model, Rhino Forum on Renderosity had a challenge on hard suit designs, some were based off of this plan also. Great job on it.

Nice model. Is it supposed to be Sylia's hardsuit or just a suit? You have colors that match Priss. The colors need some attention if its Sylia's. Here is Sylia's color scheme.

in the beginning i think it's an 2d image but it's 3d !!! very hot modelling. I love robots

Stimpy
03-11-2003, 07:11 AM
thanks guardian..

thing is, i´ve never even seen the series, shame on me. so i just took some other pic i found and used those colors.

and i must say those colors above arent quite the hottest, i prefer the strong blue and black.

well, maybe i will go back to it for an update, i should rig her prolly as well and do some poses. thanks for all the replies...

Stimpy - three WIPS going all at the same time! You're a little modelling dynamo

To be honest I didn't notice that the hardsuit wasn't Priss's and I'm meant to be quite a big BGC fan - all I noticed was that she was missing the little wings of her helmet that Priss normally has.

Oh well, seeing as you've never seen the series and have just been modelling cos you thought it would be something cool to model, I think you've done an excellent job.

ok, here we go... decided to do a quick color change on that one. also tried (!!!) a pose, came out a bit more stiff looking than i had intended but anyway... :P

and why didnt anyone tell me that she apparently has those cool knives coming out of her hands.. kick ass

and FallenSwordsman.. i wish i would finish all those WIPs as well.. ;)

Now that looks even better. Mostly cause I am a big fan. As for mentioning her blades I just forgot. But if you want to get into details and add them you can add her flight pack too. She is the only knight saber with the winged flight pack. In Bubble Gum Crisis 2040 she also has stealth with a very high powered rail gun I believe. Its just an awesome group of series. Any fan of mecha should watch the BGC. I look forward to seeing more from you. Maybe the whole team made in this style. That would look really cool. If you ever take that up let us know it would be really cool.

that concept is great , and the modeling is great, still u have to work on the colors, the "original" model is not so good for reference, keep on

good model :applause: but you should really finish the wings/power-system on the back
Check this link is has a couple of bubblegum crisis sketches
http://www.tokyo2040.com/gallery/designs/mecha.shtml
it has good pics of priss's hardsuit. front, side, back, perspective and close-ups of the helmet, gloves and the power cell system
