I really think you should paint them too. Final Fantasy VII is one of the best in the series.

Thanks, problem is painting is a tad more time-consuming.
Unlike doodling these, where you just rip a sheet out and do it right there, while waiting for the ferry to dock/bus to arrive/train to move.

Why do you have to make it sound so easy to draw great sketches like that?... ;)

Whooa, Cloud's hair is outta control! I mean... in a way that actually LOOKS like something (other than a bunch of really big Doritos glued to his scalp). Wonderful expression and character in his face, I always love it when people take characters that are usually very stylized, and give them a depth that their original portrayal didn't capture. It looks like him, and I can picture what it'd be like if he was real... well, except the hair I mean.. there's NO explanation for that! :D
Something about Tifa looks a bit off to me, something about the shape of her legs... hard to pin down what the problem is, though.
(The guy sitting at the comp behind me just looked over and said 'Wow... he looks scary now. Like Edward Scissorhands or something!' ;) )

That's really nice pencil work. really nice. What job do you have? do you draw comics?

Ok ... really nice drawings, but I got a question for you. Which ones do you want me to delete or should I just kill the whole thread?
What am I talking about? Here, take a look at this! (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32123)
eliseu, you've been around for awhile ... you should know this stuff. :shame:
Edit it please. Before jeroentje or one of the other Mods sees how nice I'm being. Thanks. :D
Oh ... I really don't know the FF characters, but I can't see anything wrong with them. The last one looks great ... color them!

Very gorgeous work man, I like how you do your shadows and light on the characters, and the style is very wildstormish trying to think of the artist but i cant come up with his name right now...but in deed I would love to see these colored but in a painted like style which would give them a softer touch and keeping there edgy look,i would also like to see more background ..,dony get me wrong i love cover arists and stuff of that gender hell that smostly what i do but the first picture would look superb with a little background to show them in some far away land or the second one have him in his kids room with toys everywhere, that would look cool her you got this tough guy with a gun hand looking after his kid hehehe...as for critque's dont see much or any flaws that stick out there very impresive...very nicely done maybe some other people could color them?in different style to see what we could get ...just my thoughts keep posting man and thanxz for the eye candy!! :applause:

Heh... It's a nice drawing, indeed, but it doesn't have the "feel" to it, something that I really miss about it.
I don't like clouds hair very much at it either... -Looks up at the FF7 poster still hanging on his wall.- ... It should be more spikey.
Ofcourse I might've gotten it all wrong, are you trying to make it the way they are, or in a different way ?

Gnarly Cranium - I can´t spot the thing on Tifa´s legs you pointed out; I gotta correct her particularly long forearm before anyone notices it:D :D
Actually, someone else mentioned the Edward Scissorhands reference over here too, and now I can´t help BUT thinking of him everytime I look at the pic.
Wrosado - Yeah, I´m a comicbook artist, though I make my living as a children and schoolbooks illustrator. The variety of people one finds at CGTalk, eh? :D
Kirt - Sorry about that, I edited the posts and removed the other pics, hopefully, the other Mods won´t have spotted it
Thanks for the heads up :)
LordEzzat - I´m thinking of painting this in Painter instead of Photoshop to get the more natuiral feel I´m going for (and train my Painter know-how which is extremelly underdevelopped, right now).
You gave quite some nice pointers, but .... a background?
Damn, I don´t even know where I´m gonna steal the time I need to paint just the characters... :(
M.Rogne - the hair was a huge problem because the videogame one just wouldn´t be plausible in real life. So, I tried to tone it down a little due to the weight and the wind, make it less pointy.
Hope it worked... :)

Ha! I'm a comic book artist as well. I've done most of my work for DC Comics, but recently I've been working on a book for crossgen comics.
All kinds of people on this forum!! :p

Well, I don't know if you've seen my stuff... I've done mostly Green-Arrow(the last series before the relaunch with Kevin Smith), and a bunch of Detective Comics Batman work.
Do you have a site? I'd like to check that out.

I have to confess I haven´t followed DC in the last few years (I gave up on a lot of titles shortly after the cancelation of Chase, but I followed Starman, Ressurrection Man and JLA:Year One among others with quite excitment :) .
Can you point out to some works you might have online? I´m really curious to see your work :) .
I don´t really have a site yet (been meaning to create one for AGES! :) ) , but I believe you can find some of my lil´doodles in HERE (http://www.posergallery.com/scripts/db/db.cgi?db=default&uid=default&Username=exator&ww=on&sb=---&so=ascend&view_records=1) including some comicbook pages, plenty of ilustrations, some really bad CG and quite a lot of videogame characters :) .

Eliseu,
You have some really nice work posted on that site. I really liked the Alessa Nostromara piece. I thought the colors and style were really nice and had that fantasy feeling. I also thought the most recent comic work was good. nice inking. Did you do the writing, drawing and inking yourself?
I have a website with my work on it. The site is flash and you need to have the most recent flash plugin to view it. it's a little K heavy.

I'm sorry...while it's technically impressive...the huge ass on Tifa and the super 'heroed up' version of Cloud just doesn't work for me.

Thanks for the comments, Sean; I´m really sorry it didn´t work for you, though :) .
Will, I checked your site and I was extremelly impressed by your works (your comic pages in particular really draw one´s attention).
For some reason I got this DC-Vertigo line vibe from them which is what I think attracted me the most.
You really have an amazing talent... AND you also model in Lightwave!! :)
I´m glad you liked my work, aside from a very few collaborations on projects that never made it, I´ve always worked alone, from the writting duties to pencils, inks, colours...even lettering.
A Jack-Of-All-Trades-Master-of-None, I guess... :)

I've haven't worked much with lightwave. those two heads where my first attempts at modelling anything.
Your avatar shows that you're from portugal...Are there many comics where you are? I know about the european(spain and france)albums but don't know much about portugese comics.

Well, portuguese comics went through some very rough times, but they seem to finally be re-emerging lately with a very few number of publishers showing some timid signs of interest.
This re-emerging is still at a very embryonary stage to even give it that name and, consideing the microscopic size of our market (our population barely reaches 10 million), my (very pragmatic) advice for any artists out there interested in a career in the field right now would have to be: Don´t give up on your day job.
Have hope, yes, keep drawing them pages, but keep the feet on the ground. Chances are the artwork will most likely rot in a gloomy drawer somewhere.
I´ve seen it happen too many times and it´s never a pretty scenario.
