Hello, I have a problem with my computer that maybe someone could help me with.

I use 3D Studio Max 5.1 and when I start it sometimes my computer reboots without any error messages. Sometimes it is really quick after it loads and sometimes it is 30min. later, but this only happens when I have 3DS running.

My System Specs:

Asus AS-A7V333
AMD Athlon XP 1900+
Asus V8170DDR GEFORCE MX-440
PC2100 DDR SDRAM 512MB (Two different Manufs.)
Win2K with all current SP's and Patches

Any Ideas?

Win2k and XP are programmed to reboot when a BSOD occurs by default.

To change this, perform the following.

Go to...

Start-settings-control panel-system-advanced-startup and recovery

Click write an event to the event viewer. Uncheck auto reboot, and send admin message.

The next time the system goes to reboot, it will BSOD instead, save the dump, and you'll be able to write down the error code / visit microsoft's knowledge database to find out the problem.

You can also check for stop errors and saved dumps at (eww) the event viewer in admin tools.

start-settings-ctrl panel-admin tools-event viewer.
