Bacteria are not transparent they are packed full of stuff so this detracts from the realism a bit.

and the virus-gencode (the input in the bacteria) is a long and -strong- molecular string ;-)

But this is a great perspective and this picture shows perfect the attack of virus....

Very sharp and interesting render! I like the way you have lit the scene!

Hi and thank you for your comments.

Dan - thanks!

sciencegal - true, in this case I choose to make them transparent to show the process inside but I could probably have done a more realistic view - good point, thanks!

momomicha - ah yes you're right! The gencode is now represented as the vague pattern in the background but using it as input instead of the dots would make perfect sense - thanks!

Varma - thank you! Glad you like it.

Clap clap clap...

Bravo Gunie... a beautiful originaly on this pic...

Very pedagogic with a particulary good composition... it's really well designed and I'm really fan.

Totally in accordance with your universe of course, but much appreciated... to you planed an animation about the fight now ? that will be certainly something very interesting.

You made this pic for your book or for a professional job ?

A nice day for you :)

Gunie,

I was admiring this image in your CGP Gallery when you posted it...I love how your scientific works have personality that is distinctly yours, and it's of course nice to see how you constantly improve...keep up the good work! :)

Cheers,

Lolo - thank you! This is a portfolio piece, made in just a day which is very fast for me - glad you like. Animation? You must read my mind ... I have thought of animating it as a short scene, need some new clips for my reel. It could be fun playing with animated transparancies to reveal what's going on - we'll see :)

Beckie - aww, thanks for the nice words... I'm so glad you like my style and I so enjoying putting these things together. There's a whole internal universe to explore.

thank you both for stopping by!

Great to see your new scene here, very much in style with your other scientific illustrations.
I think the idea behind it is well transported and good to understand:thumbsup: , better than it could be with a ultra-realistic render...one of the reasons I like your stylised scenes so much:) !
And of course it is crying for an animation...looking forward to discover this!

Sabie, Lolo - thanks for cheering me on in the animation idea ... hopefully I'll make something good from it.

Jim - thanks mate, glad you like it. So, are you up for the next challenge? :)

Lolo - morning dear, animation barely started - some other stuff got in the way I'm afraid (don't ask!) :banghead:
I've got an idea for another project too - it will probably be continued in my anatomy thread later.

have a great day and thanks for stopping by! :)

Eew I dunno, I guess I will decide when that time comes. I got pretty burned out on the last 2 challenges. But good work usually comes from those contests so I might go if the topic suits me, not that I ever follow the guidelines... hahah. Will you be entering?

Right now I am making a new image out of my old spectacular contest entry. Its gonna be scary! It should be up in a couple of weeks. I work slowly...

Haven't decided yet ... as usual I say I haven't got the time but then - I find it hard to resist!
If I do I think I will do it more the way you do, with making stuff I can use for other things later. And I tend to be pretty loose on the guidelines too :)
I'll look out for your new image - you had some pretty marvelous characters for that entry. Will it involve the feet? I hope it will.

looks really nice! especially the way you lit your scene.

Are there any tutorials for creating scenes with these bacterial kinda looks you used? or that you of... i'm wanting to do a organic scenery lookalike thingy like yours...

Well the feet will be gone, the concept behind the new image is that the friends of the people of the feet have returned to seek revenge and lay waste to Biggy and his crew. What you will see is the aftermath of the battle.

If I enter the new contest I am definitely going to be really carefull about not straying away from my project in terms of modeling. I got carried away from my usual stuff for the last 2 contests I did and some of the models are only partially useable for my ongoing work. Quite often for me the images that come out later from work in the contest turns out better than the thing I did for the contest.

Hi, I'm sure there are tutorials available online, try checking the section for the software you use. If it's Max I've seen some but unfortunately haven't got any links.

For the textures I use falloff for most slots like opacity, diffuse, self-illumination in combination with procedurals, mostly Noise in this case. The falloff is what makes much of the microscopy look. If you're using Max and want to know more - let me know and I can post a screengrab and more detailed how-to in the Max section of this forum.

soapy - intrigueing concept as ever... I really like what you're doing with your (and Billys) world. The revenge of the feetleass, huh? Smashing! Make sure to post it in your galler when you're done and I come by for sure. Or better yet, start a WIP thread?
Yeah, I know what you mean with straying from the original intent... I should probably be best off modeling a lot of organs and bodyparts but when it comes down to it there are so many fun things to discover... and I usually learn so much from each challenge that I have use for later. Not to mention all the fun in interacting with you guys :)
