View Full Version : Nightmare - "The cute little girl"
09-17-2006, 09:10 PM
Hy guys! Finaly started a wip again(been busy with freelancing). Well... a nightmare again... it`s about a gril i had in my dream... she was about 5-6 years old. U will see the dream as i progress...
I`m modeling a friend wich will play the role of the little girl(my friend is 15 years old, but i`ll modify where necesary :) ). This is the progress on the girl`s face(i`ll still work on the nose... to make it perfect). I will model everything with care... no more roughing... then sculpt and paint in zbrush where necesary.
if u want i`ll publish some refrences that i`m using
09-17-2006, 09:24 PM
Hm the idea seams quite nice lunaticu, ill deffenetly be checking this thread out..
as of right now there isnt too much to crit since its only the nose so far.. but it does look like your doing a good job on the topology side :).. keep it up
and yes it would be interesting to see what kind of reference your using.
-waiting for updates :D
09-18-2006, 06:02 AM
update... made the mouth...
i`m glad u like her :D and the modeling too.. :D
next: tweek the mouth a little more to get the general shape correct. Then i`m gonna continue with the chin, and maybe the eyes.
Looks like you're off to a good start! :) I recommend you check out this thread:
Sebastien has done an amazing job of modelling a little girl! :)
I look forward to seeing what you'll do with your model!
09-18-2006, 03:18 PM
update on the face... still lots to do... and lots of tweeking on the nose.... and a lot on the eyes.
thx for the reply :)
09-18-2006, 05:52 PM
Hey man! nice updates :) everything seams to come together...
but im seeing some triangles in the nose and cheek area, the good thing is that they are easy to fix for the most part
heres a pic :)
hopefully this can help you :)
another thing that i think needs tweaking is the transition from the eye socket to the nose bridge...
ahh i just noticed .. you should try to get more mouth loops.. this will help your geomtry deform better
well keep it up man!! can wait to see more updates
09-19-2006, 07:17 AM
update on the eyes, mouth and jaw... i`ll continualy tweek everyting till i get it right :) and fixed a lot of broken topology.
thx man. that helped me... i will contiualy fix broken topology when i see it...
i hope u like the update... i can`t wait to bring her to zbrush to mess her up :D
09-19-2006, 08:30 AM
Hey man everything its looking better in each update :)
there are some things that i see now...
-the eye arrrea i just pointed out that it needs that extra detail in there
here is a pic
im not sure if you can read the pic but what it says is that the chin might be too square
and to thin out the nose a bit.. and the eye
but hey man keep it up!
everything its coming together and it can only get better :D
oh yeah, i hope you took more refference pics besides the front and side, because its just a good idea to have all the angles (well.. alot of them) that way you can compare
09-19-2006, 08:34 AM
thx man... yes i`ve took a lot of pics... i use them... and thx for the advice... i appriciate for helping me... looking forword for more crits :) expect update tonight :)
09-19-2006, 06:21 PM
yeah no problem man! thats why we are here for right helping eachother ill be waiting for the updates :buttrock:
09-19-2006, 09:43 PM
thx... i appriciate that....
more done, more tweeked, more clean. Still a lot to do!
i`m working slow cuz i have school and freelance to take care of too.... but i`ll finish this :D with your help guys :)
09-20-2006, 04:37 PM
Update on the head... i`ve finished it... i need to tweek the nose and the eyes. Then start zbrushing
09-20-2006, 05:38 PM
hmm i think before you go into Zbrush you should first fix some proportions, and tweak the head a little more.
I think the ear area needs some work as well as the nose and eyes.
here is some pointer.. what i usually do with my models is that i detach the part that i will be working on so i can focus just on it, and that way i can spend that bit of extra time just making it look as it should :)
here its an example, its just the lips that are detached from the model...
hope this helps
keep it up man!
09-20-2006, 08:42 PM
fixed a lot of errors... changed the topology of the mouth and eyes... made the expresion in max and zbrush. I will detail all the things in z :)
I wanna make like craks in the face and stuff like that..... just like it was in my nighmare :)
i hope u like it
09-20-2006, 11:54 PM
hmm i dont know if its looking like a girl anymore... i think it needs some more teaking make it more "cute" like (even though its supposed to be scary)
09-21-2006, 12:03 AM
I think you need good reference, proportion look off to me.
09-21-2006, 12:06 AM
well he did say he took lots of refference pics, but i think he should look at it more closely if he does have them
09-21-2006, 12:12 AM
My bad, sorry Lunaticu I guess you already have the reference:).
09-21-2006, 05:50 AM
Nova, tintin50 thx... but this had to be a surprize... i wanted to make her like that... it will look better with teeth eyes and hair.
So the title "the cute little girl" is ironical ;) i hope u guys understand.
well... the refrence show that the proportions are good....
p.s. she has a preety big ears... but u can`t see them cuz she has long black hair :) but the rest looks normal too me.
09-21-2006, 02:40 PM
it doesn`t look like the refrence cuz i`ve implemented the "nighmare" on her.
well... i scrapped the cracks on the face... and i detailed the face, the expresion... still more to come... i hope u like it.
09-21-2006, 06:10 PM
made some pores.... i`ll reduce them from arround the mouth.... and the jaw and from the forehead.
i`ll make some pimples and stuff...
but anyway... in max they will not be so visible :)
09-22-2006, 09:47 PM
i got some updates on the girl... i hope u like them...
i made the skin... still need to tweek it... i need to make some good hair material... put some clothes on her and it`s done....
well this turned out to be another character from my nightmares... an angry lady... i hope it turnes out good.
I`ll decreese the specular. And change the lighting.
Still a lot of work to do!
09-23-2006, 06:47 AM
i`m gonna scrap this head... and go in the direction i intended....
i`m gonna remodel the head... and put a 14-15 year old girl in the scene. Expect updates!
09-23-2006, 02:40 PM
started the nose again... worked at it for about an hour... tryied to match it perfectly to the blueprints.
09-23-2006, 09:10 PM
a little update.... not much but i`m keeping up with the refrence.
09-24-2006, 05:49 PM
update on the eyes and a bit on the forehead... i`m keeping up with the refrence... but i need to tweek the top of the nose and the bottom of the forhead... i hope u like it till now.
C&C would be apriciated
09-24-2006, 05:51 PM
this looks like her... good modeling
09-25-2006, 01:33 AM
nice man, better than before too... im not too sure where you were going before, since the last update didnt look like a little girl (or young girl) eh.. its good though because from each try you learn more and you can see what works or not
godd job here is my crit
keep it up!!
make sure you work the eye socket area.. its happening the same thing as before
oh yeah.. good job on the topology flow... you deffenetly took your time and worked at it
09-25-2006, 05:34 AM
Yeah this looking a lot better:), its getting there well done and keep going.
09-25-2006, 10:06 PM
update... topology fixed. I can`t work to much on the project cuz of school and freelance jobs.
thx guys for replies!
C&C would be apriciated!
09-26-2006, 08:42 PM
update... made the mouth. still have to tweek it a bit :) i hope u like it too!
C&C would be appriciated
09-26-2006, 10:45 PM
Yeah, she looks a lot better now, keep going man
09-27-2006, 12:24 AM
hey man really nice progress there.. ic that you are paying good attention to your geometry flow, there are areas to be polished but i know you know that :) keep it up though.. its looking quite nice..
here are my crits
its looking soo much better now man.. keep it up!!!1
09-27-2006, 03:18 AM
does look much better now.
One thing to watch out for as you redo it is that the eyes are halfway up the head...a lot of people get this wrong. Looking at your first attempt there was totally not enough head above the eyes.
Keep it up! It's great to know when to scrap and start over!
09-27-2006, 08:49 AM
thx guys for the comments and tips(they realy help me be better and improve)!
made some progress(had more free time) made the chin and the top of the neck. Fixed the smile and tweeked the cheeks a bit.
A lot of wireframes:
still have to tweek the chin a bit... i hope you like it! C&C would be appriciated!
09-27-2006, 12:43 PM
keep it up
09-27-2006, 08:19 PM
Update... onlu have to complete the head now.
09-28-2006, 03:24 AM
man everything its looking very nice. its all coming together nicely.. only crit now is that i think the ear right now its too flushed against the head
an ear angles a bit out.. here is some refference... i know its not the same person that your modeling, but even though click me (http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c125/lewisu20/girl_nathalie_portman021.jpg)
check it out..
keep it up
09-28-2006, 08:09 AM
i`ve completeded the head, it`s the base mesh, i`ll detail, and texture in zbrush.(and i tweeked the ears, thx for the tip).
any critiques b4 going to zbrush?
09-28-2006, 09:39 AM
unwrapped and impoted to zbrush. Applied a material on her... the rest will come later on.
09-28-2006, 08:19 PM
update... i made some little detailes here and there....
i`ll start painting tomorow.
09-28-2006, 08:31 PM
Looking Very Nice! :D cant wait to see some updates :)
09-29-2006, 07:48 AM
detail on the eyes:
09-29-2006, 08:29 AM
hmm im not sure but, i think the neck its looking kind of too thick.. not sure maybe its the angle.
09-29-2006, 12:21 PM
I`m agree with NovaKane about de neck!
But looks fantastic just a little details !
Keep on it!
10-01-2006, 06:15 AM
thx guys! sorry for not updating i n a while but i had some problems. Maybe some updates this week!
10-02-2006, 08:29 PM
made the skin... still have to tweek it.... :D
made the hair... still have to tweek it... :)
skin render(i have to work at the ilumination too):
in the end i`ll add an oclusion pass so it will look better(i hope)
please give me tips on the skin(my first time using it).
10-03-2006, 05:38 AM
i have to tweek the hair... make it more thin
this is a render with no modifications but with all the hair and an oclusion pass... i like this way better. I hope u like it too.
10-03-2006, 09:33 AM
please say something guys... i know i`m not well known here... but say anything u like.... like:" i don`t like it" " change that..." "do that..." i feel kinda alone here... help me out please...
10-03-2006, 12:04 PM
i still think the mouth curvature looks funny but besides that i think she looks a little too healthy for a "nightmare" character
10-03-2006, 01:46 PM
thx for the reply... well.. i want to make a realistic render of her... then transform her into the nightmare character that i want.(ideea got in the progress of the work)
well... the mouth curvature is exactly like in the blueprint :)
10-03-2006, 08:09 PM
I don't know either you have tomuch curvature on the lips or the edges are not lined up with the edge of te lip because u're model has a cheesey smile. whereas the lips in the photo are very straight across.
10-04-2006, 06:14 AM
please give some tips on improving.
10-05-2006, 06:54 AM
update again.... not having to much time to work on it....
a render with ocl:
i fixed the lips... i still have to work on them...
i gonna work at the eyes....
hope you like it.
please give some tips....
10-06-2006, 11:11 AM
thx for the tips... i`ve redone the smile... and i have to paint the textures again... and detail the ear...
i`ll be off in the weekend so expect updates tuesday...
please let me know is is this ok... and if u like it(or not)
i hope u like it :)
10-06-2006, 11:50 AM
i made a quick update on skull ear and neck muscles and bones(still have to work on them)
and on the "double chin"
this is a lot better ;)
10-06-2006, 01:42 PM
looking better keep working on the neck muscles and u'll be A ok... Lips look alot better in my opinion.
10-10-2006, 03:30 AM
hey guys! i came home and i worked last night on the hair... this is the result(thiner and more hair ;), new mat on the hair also, less shiny)
10-10-2006, 05:37 AM
The lips are looking better. I think proportion wise, the top of the head is a little short. Usually, when looking from the front, eyes should be in the middle between the chin and the top of the head.
10-10-2006, 08:15 PM
thx man for the tips. I checked the proportions with the blueprints and it`s a ok :)
I have a render with a bit of postwork of the new face with the new mat... this looks better still have to work on the lighting to make it look better. Next render will be with the hair :)
10-11-2006, 06:34 AM
this is my first time using m-ray(ilumination and skin mat), hair modifier and such... so please bear with me... i`m trying realy hard to achive something...
new ilumination... i feel that it`s getting better.
i`m gonna work at the specular map and epidermal, and i`m gonna make her a swim suit or something. And i`m gonna work on the mouth.
