Hello everyone!

When I discovered this website some time ago I became amazed at all the nice works from the people here and decided that this was something for me. So I have decided that I want to do this big piece to try to learn as much as possible. I had alot of ideas of what I wanted to do and I've combined two I was excited about. One was make a fantasy desert city. The other was make a moody picture of a couple on a balcony during a sunset.
I don't consider myself a good drawer. However I do consider myself a creative and fastlearning person so I'll try to work hard to reach the overall level of the people here at CGTalk.

Programs I'll be using is:
-Photoshop (Some experience from using it in the past)
-3D Studio Max (No experience at all. Have had a look around though)
My idea was to make the city in 3D Studio Max. Use sketches and refrences to make the couple and other details. Also use pictures to make the background elements.

I thought if I'm gonna do this it will probably be hard work to get it right and will take some time so I decided I would post my progress here to get some feedback and good tips from however bothers to do that and that will keep me going. :)

Here is a really fast sketch I did just to give you an idea of what I'm thinking about doing. Not a good sketch I know, but even so here it is:

A small update: I've played around in 3D Studio Max now after I found an easy tutorial so I've got the general idea of how to make things. Tomorrow I'll probably start with doing some concepts of the buildings. Probably won't start modelling anything before Monday/Tuesday or maybe even later (depends). Will post the concepts for the building as I go along.
Here you can enjoy my wonderful glass on a table I made:
