Here's a Spaceship I've been working on for the last couple days on and off. Just thought it'd be nice to see some content on the forum :)
Additionally there's an avi of the ship Here. (http://www.drakkheim.com/software/ship.avi)
Its ~.5 mb but my connection is kinda slow so a little bit of patience may be in order. You'll need divx 503 which you can get here. (http://www.divx.com)

and another one..
Ditch the little lense flare though. . . Kinda cheezy. Or at least work with it a little so it doesn't look too generic.
I do like how much control AM gives you on those lense flare thingies.

I love the look of it. Good design and everything!

Wegg: yeah lensflare needs a complete overhaul.. good thing those spotlights arent going to be on all the time..
Im shooting for somthing resembling 80's anime (robotech, voltron etc) meets Star Trek/ Babylon 5/ Tripping The Rift.. Should be a learning experience to say the least.
Am now working on actually texturing the model (shots above are only colored groups)and cleaning up the model a bit. although I may take a break and start on some of the crew or interiors.

That's really nice. I like it.
And I liekd the lensflare too. :) I'm just not as jaded I guess as the "pros."
I love what you've done with the Toon Renderer! I don't think I'd change a thing

:bounce: Woot! Your toon-render settings look great. I think you've achieved exactly the look you say you're going for. Not sure what else could be added. If the textures you add muddy things up at all, I'd consider leaving them out -- looks fine as it is.

I like it alot. Everyone does spaceships... but me loves spaceships. And I love toon renders.

This kind of very good toon render always gets me re-thinking my attempts at hyper-real. I'm not sure it calls for a lens flare as well.
But a very good job for what I can see.
I think of the old cartoon series "Space Angel" when I see this kind of toon render.

thanks for the comments.
I changed the initial image to a newer version.
Cydonian: you're right .. most of my attempts to texture it seemed to muddy up the feel of the model.
I've added a small fighter/escort ship.
I think it's time to move on to the interiors and characters for a bit.

That's soo cool, I love the sorta . . . old feel the picture has, you've really achieved the time period you wanted to. And i like the 'cheezy' lense flair cuz it helps in conveying the 70's anime/cartoon style. :)

The lens flare is a distinctly 90's bit of cheese. The rest, though...is amazing. Everything--even the semi-grainy space background--works together to give it a 80's cartoon look. The ship design is also period--if a bit further retro--and very, very cool.

hey thanks :)
as for the lens flare, It's only going to be used for 1 particular scene that I can think of right now and definatly not in it's current state. So pretend it's not there, ok? ;)
Here's a shot of the bridge as a work in progress... Im still adding panels and console decals to it... oh and the door isn't there yet (i keep forgetting to add it)..
and another one.

Wow, this is looking great! More, more, more...and..umm..more!

ok here's a couple shots of the bridge as it stands. I think Im gonna call it done unless someone sees something obvious or icky that im overlooking.
been running am8.51 and photoshop all day and the only thing that crashed on me so far was photoshop. What a good day :)
now onto making some people and stuff.

Main ship took about 4 hours...
the little fighter probably took around 3 or so most of which was spent on making the doors open well and modeling the interior.
The bridge set is probably around 8 hours or so..
Im limiting myself to under 3000 patches per model/set otherwise I'll never be able to assemble a scene and render it. :hmm:
