View Full Version : Light Tracer and animations?
Jon_Pran 01-29-2003, 10:24 PM I am very new to Max 5 and was wondering if anyone has done any outdoor scene animations with Light Tracer? Is it even worth considering, or will it take too long? How about the flickering that is common with GI renderings? Just wondering if I should attempt it or stick with regular old raytracing.
Thanks.

Depends on what you're doing. For a sunlit canyon scene, it would probably work really well. For a moonlit forrest, i think it would be overkill.
Personally i'll fake it ever chance i get if it gives me speed gains. So i'd probably never use GI unless i was after a specific effect, ie light bounces and nice shadow accumulation.

Thanks. I guess it will come down to experimenting. It's for architectural visuals, so it'll be a fairly simple building, some RPC trees, a few cars, nothing too complicated. But speed (of course) is important.
Does anyone know of any tutorials specifically about this?
