Title: Darkfall concept painting
Name: Henning Ludvigsen
Country: Norway
Software: 3ds max, Photoshop

I started this piece quite a while ago at work. It’s simply a conceptual 2D painting that was made for no other purpose to experiment and for use in misc. relation from PR to decoration etc. The picture shows 3 of the totally 6 races of Darkfall, the MMORPG-game I am working on fulltime. The girl is an elf, the guy in the middle is a human, and the vertically challenged guy to the right is obviously a dwarf. Some of the elements is based of 3D objects made by other employees of Aventurine S.A.

The picture was made in extremely high resolution, so I recommend you to click the close-up button to get a better impression. I have also added a 50% close up at the bottom of the page.

All elements are copyrighted Aventurine S.A.

Painted using Photoshop CS2 with a Wacom Intuos tablet, and some elements based on 3D renders of actual in game objects/environments.

I do like this, and I was wondering when I'd see this here. Did just the tiniest bit of John Rhys Davies' Gimli sneak into your dwarf, or is his design based entirely in/on your game system? I'm asking because I really enjoy this type of game art, but cannot play the games because I get so involved in them, I usually end up in a large amount of pain. Being a klutz and a geek is a bad thing.

"Vertically challenged", hehe! Great stuff, as usual - I especially like the beard of that really short dwarf guy ;)

I marvel at the amount of detail you put in there... how much time did it take you? Have you put the engraving of the sword on the mni-shield over his crouch on purpose? hehe... must allways be prepared.

The Characters are really off Balance, The ,

The dwarf feet are both facing the exact same direction

The Elf is on her tippy toes and also both facing same way, Even a Gymnastic person could not stand like them and fire a bow without falling on there ass.

And the guy Legs needs to spread farther apart And his feet need to be pointed In different directions.

My Advise is work on stronger gestures for next one.

This is fun and well rendered although the Humans pose is a little weird to me.

What I like is the Dwarfs hammer. What's the back-story on that?
