View Full Version : export pla (point level animation)
Hi everybody
I know this question has been asked in the past on this forum, but to my knowledge without a solution yet, so I would like to try again. I want to export a pla (point level animation) from c4d to 3dsMax. Is there a way to do this? Maybe somebody wrote a plugin for this recently (hope hope hope...)?
Thanks in advance!

Try using FBX, make sure that the PLA option is checked in the FBX preferences, of course that's no guarantee that the Max FBX importer will work well enough to load it in.

Other way could be the MDD writer plugin and then search for a plugin for 3dmax that read this kind of file.
You have Point Oven (in the page says that support 3dmax) for this, is not free tough.
I can't find the pla-option in the fbx-preferences (I checked edit->preferences->import/export->fbx-export). Am I looking in the right place?
I downloaded the MDD-writer-plugin, looking for a max importer now, thanks for the
tip!

The fbx format (and consequently the fbx plugin) does not support pla. What the Cinema fbx plugin does, is using pla as a fallback on import, if you have no Mocca module (and therefore no posemixer).
