Title: Game Art: Destroyer & Battleship [Wallpaper]
Name: Moritz Füllgrabe
Country: Germany
Software: 3ds max, finalRender, Photoshop
Here are some pics created for our customer Gameforge and their online-game OGame.de
We modelled low-poly meshes and added the details by using finalRenders MTD (micro-triangle-displacemnt). So it was possible to create high-res models in a short amount of time.

Looks nice, I like it.
What micro-triangle-displacement is? I've never heard of it, tend to explain?
I'd guess it's a renderer.

Micro Triangle Displacement (MTD) is a feature of finalRender. MR, Vray, Brazil have it too but they call it different.
This way of displacement works first when rendering the image. Due to the fact that just the renderengine has to handle the tesselation and not the viewport, you can have much higher amount of polygons.

WOW Awesome work.
The models also looks good as in polys and wires. Texturing is really great.
both the models are really coool. Super work really.
am very anxious to know how did you material the blue lighted ship. The open deck ship with blue thursters.
For a Spaceship fan this is a great art work.

The details are very impressive from such a low-poly model. I will definately be looking into MTD. Do you know of any tuts or helpful links?

They look like ships from Quake 2. At least the second one does.

Thanks for inspiring me. After watchin your gorgeous Space Opera Image i am eager to work on my own. Your Image is very dynamic, gripping and the feeling of speed is very well translated as well as all the details are teasing my eye.
Good work.
As sumone mentioned already, please show some of these displacement maps, it sure would be helpful for some of us. (Me!;))
Another thing...can you tell how long it rendered with the displacement and without?
In other words: How much Renderresources needs this Kind of mapping.

WOW!
Great work!
