Title: Worl War 2 Captain America
Name: Glen Angus
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

Inspired from working on Marvel Ultimate Alliance, and with my historical passion of military history I did this painting as a personal bonus piece near the end of the project (which ships in the early fall)
I wanted to depict Cap braisenly standing up amidst the gunfire at Omaha beach raising his Thompson machine gun to rally the troops forward.
Wanted this piece to also have a filmy gainy quality to it-reminiscant of old war broadcasts.

Done entirely in Photoshop.

Hope you like,
Respectfully,
Gangus

You have done it again Mr. Angus. I love this representation of Captain America. The gritty war feel is perfect. I saw this image in ImagineFX and I am glad to see a larger more detailed version here at cgsociety. Simply amazing!

Another great work to the collection! This is an interesting reinvention of Captain America! In my opinion, his bright and attention-getting design can have two purposes:
To lure the attackers' attention away from the rest of his team to himself so that they can reach their destination safely; or; he simply wants to look good and show his rank when commanding his troops and to put some fear into his enemy by making them think he is invincible. :) Nevermind my blabbering.

Have you thought of painting the next Marvel Masterpieces cards? I wondered what happened to it already.

I LOVE the colors! How he is in color while the rest of the scene is in sepia.

Really nice painting! The mood is spot on and I think you've achieved a nice gritty sepia toned style. The Capt'n clothing is very cool!!

However I think there is some confusion as to what he is doing because of the way he's facing. The other soldiers are pointing toward right, but the Capt'n seems like he has turned his back to the action. Is he yelling orders or something? It doesn't read clearly enough.

One last crit is the flag in the background which in opinion is 'overkill' as the american flag is very well represented on the shield and Caps clothing. It makes it 'collage' like and not like a freezeframe as the great action aims towards.

Wow, I like this.
Not sure us non-yanks are going to see the subject matter in quite the same way as you colonial fellas though, not sure if I should laugh or salute with a tear in my eye?

Daring and memorable image though, grats.
