View Full Version : Modeling/Exchanging Furniture
abudabi 09-13-2006, 06:28 PM Is somebody interested in this.
We could post here links to all sorts of interior furniture (tables,chairs,sofas...) and then start modeling ...but we must agree who will model what...post wip pictures to see how its going/maybe sugesstions...and finally exchange 3dm. models between each one of us
...but not to those who are watching and not modeling anything!
...This doest have to be daily offcoures...I was thinking 1 or 2 models a month...even with 3 people participating thats 6 models!
What do you think?

people in this forum seem to be challenged by time constraints... especially me!
If you want to kick off some kinda of collab work we should really start on the collab tutorial on the ipod and dock.

If you wanted to keep that thread active that would be great! Then when forum participation is up I'm sure there will be no objections to working on this :)

I get more of the feeling that most people will avoid anything that looks like work! Maybe some sort of reward or competition would ease the tutorial along.

I agree... I don't think many of us want to share model for free...

Yes, but you wont share it for free youll get another model from some of us...so its 1 for me and 1 for you...but well have to have vip. pictures and final renderings so that we can see what quality we have

Helo tilite!
Thank you for quick respond.
Frankly I also dont have idea how to make this tread, but I have few ideas...also open to listen yours:-)
I was thinking of making the 1st post where all the pictures of finished models will be so that new member dont need to scroll all pages to see models.
Also we must have LIST of people participating (who will exchange models, how many models they made, so that we also avoid "I will upload 1 model and download 4" ) so we dont get any lazy intruders.
BUt I dont know how to solve exchange. We must not attach models on post because obviosly everyone will download them.
We can exchange emails or somehow ?!?!?! but we must have some kind of UPLOAD/DOWLOAD counter to avoid cheats
Links to the furniture can be posted as usual threads.
And yes finaly this is for people dealing with ArchVis. no motors,cars,boats....
Tilie I will post this also at forum so we can get suggestions from other people that will participate:-)
Thank you!"
Your suggestions how to make this work!
Lets do this!

All:)
But if you already need something lets get started.
Ill make the chair you make the table:buttrock: , but let put some effort and make them look good!
Dont want that poor, cheap, boxed, unfinished look.

If its not aproblem I would also like to stay focused more on modern furniture not some old traditional, with lot of ingravings...
Wouldnt like to present people their new appartment and put some old, dusty table.

If the models are of good quality and the system proposed will be used effeciently and frequently I could probably arange some server space here on cgtalk, but thats a 50/50 atm. This privacy thing may not fly with the admins, the idea should be to provide free blocks and draw people into the cgtalk community. Maybe we could arange somethign like they can only be downloaded by a member but available to everyone who is a member.
hmmm...

Hi tillite!

What do you mean?
I dont understand this part well

well the only way I would be able to arrange server space is if promoted activity here on cgtalk.
So we can attract new members by the models being free... with the one condition they have to sign up to cgtalk and hopefully participate in the forums.
Even if server space isn't required I still think it would be a good idea to have the models availible to everyone not just those who submit them.
[edt] by the above quoted statement I just ment that the models should be available to all cgtalk members... but members only

models being free ?
Even if server space isn't required I still think it would be a good idea to have the models availible to everyone not just those who submit them.
So you want us to model for everyone here and also for free?!
----> "...and you call this JUSTICE!?"
No problem!
I want 100$ per object, send me all dimensions, links to models...

Well abudabi, seems like you dont fully appreciate what the CGSociety stands for.
Most people here are skilled artist, or on their way there. This forum is for sharing ideas, learning from each other, and keeping up to date on what are going on among the CG artist in general.
We (most of us) can produce any hi quality furniture we need, fast and easy. And if we by doing so, can help new members, hone our skills, or ease the projects of our fellow members, we sometimes do, without having any use of it ourselfs.
But if you want to make quick money on selling models, this is not the place.
If you on the other hand propose that we make a database with furniture models, free to use as interior in any CGS project, that that chould be a good idea. Eccept, that we are pritty much bussy these days.

I would be glad to have you by our side if we start this thing.
If its not a problem, could you now attach few of your furniture models here.
I think that everyone would fully appreciate that expecialy the "vultures".
