Hi there. Everyone knows how to split an edge in 2. But is there a way (or a mel) to split an edge in 3 or 4 or 5, etc... in a precise and easy way?

if you mean adding verts on an edge, either use the split poly tool or you can select the edge, and hit subdivide (option box give you how many divisions)
