Just wrote a scripted plugin for the primitive! hope you like it ;)
Equinoxx has made it available on his site (my own site is in the making).. get it -here- (http://equinoxx.cgcommunity.com/downloads/mvhtools_tubecap_1-0.rar)..

Just so you all know, there's a script available at www.scriptspot.com (http://www.scriptspot.com/download.asp?ID=1198) called plug-o-matic. It'll help you to turn any editable mesh into an object plugin. Pretty simple, and super-cool!

Hey whoa that's cool magicm, nice. It seems to be working just as advertised :)
Cool with the script-at-request thing too, I'm not used to seeing too many answers to script-related questions, let alone a custom-written script, in a MAX forum.

have you guys been able to get the plug-o-matic to run in max5?

I tried it on a mesh of a head in early development...hoping to make a "primitive" out of it to save me an hour per head I make.

I run the script in max5 and nothing happens.

?

You need to go to the utility panel, open up the script's panel, and pick the object you want to plugin-ify. When you click the generate plugin button, it will ask for a filename to save the new script to (I recommend saving it into your stdplugs\stdscripts folder). Afterwards, you need to run the resulting script, and then you'll find your object in a new Plug-O-Matic category in the drop-down on the Create Geometry panel.

Works fine for me in Max5.1

GOT IT!

For some reason, my utilities window was not redrawing. I minimized and restored it and there it was.

it is sweet!
