View Full Version : Scene (WIP)
murm9000 01-29-2003, 09:03 AM Something I'm working on to learn Max ... I'm a Professional Level Designer and this is my first project that isn't a tutorial in 3DS Max. I painted all the textures in the scene too, which is a first also (Photoshop).
It is meant to be a low->medium poly scene. The Maple tree is around 1500 polys, the bushes are between 600-800 each, the ferns are around 150-200. Everything else is pretty low poly.
Lighting is just a single Daylight rendered with Radiosity.
Any comments are welcome.

I think it looks great. The tiled part looks like it should be a pool of somekind and although it is reflective it doesn't actually look like there is water in it. Otherwise I can't find fault, very nice.

what is the poly count of the whole scene?
really beautiful, great mapping i did not see that'was low poly...now you say it, i'm surprising !
top left : the water seems strange, correct the map, add some blue/green into it.
the building looks too clean, more details and dirtiness may add more credibility in the scene...
Though it is, it's really good.

It looks nice indeed. Maybe you can ad some watervapor at the fall by using a volumeFog or an semi transparent mat. on a object.

Thanks for the comments.
There are a few things I still want to do to the shot. Some volumetric light pouring through the tree canopy; I want to tweak the water; tweak the splash where the fall hits the pool; and I have plans to finish up the scene with a few details.
Please keep the critiques coming because they're very useful.
Thanks.
