CGTalk - minimum word length search restriction

as this issue was raised in the maya forum i thought i move this here

the minimum word length search restriction is a real pain considering that there are plenty of TLA (three letters acronyms) which just can not be used as keywords in your search

is this a restriction by vBulletin?

use this workaround

lets say you are searching for XYZ

search for XYZ*

when you add star to the end it works fine.
