View Full Version : Zbrush – modo 202 combo question
rockmed 09-12-2006, 09:21 PM I’m a rabid modo user but lately I’ve been totally impressed by the work Rick Baker has been posting on the modo gallery so I thought I would check out Zbrush. Anyway, I’m pretty good friends with Brad Peebler over at Luxology so I was talking to him about the modo-zbrush connection and he mentioned to me that they had a coupon code setup for Zbrush users to get modo for $495. I’m not sure why they aren’t promoting it but if you are interested the code is zbmodo.
So are there any modo/ZB users here who can give me some pointers on working with the two apps together? I know Rick posted some info about modeling the base mesh in modo, doing detail paint in ZB and then exporting a mid level mesh and displacement map. Does the demo version allow import/export of OBJ files? I don’t see where to do that?
Thanks!

I just tried the coupon code, and it's legit. Wish I'd known about this a few weeks ago when I bought modo!
Any idea how long they've had the coupon code?

Rock, no you can't do that with the demo. I wanted to try that feature out too, but the demo doesnt' allow it.
I took a chance, sort of, and went ahead and bought Zbrush. It seems to be everything it is made out to be. This so far as being able to modify existing 3d objects ect..
It seems VERY stable too.

slatr- Many thanks for clarifying the limitation. Sucks, I was hoping to try that.
rnb2- Note sure how long. It might be a good idea to email Lux directly to see if you qualified back then.

oh dear i was just bout to submit my order for xsi foundation. Now seeing this, it will be modo instead i guess. Many thanks for the hint. But id like to try it first (especially displacement). I already bought carrara as they promoted "Zbrush displacement maps" to be supported. They are, but i cant go higher than few 100k polies with 2 gb ram. which again makes it pointless, doh.
Are tangent space normal maps supported as well in modo?
