I've set up a very simple scene using a sphere and a couple of cubes. The only light source is set to nearly zero.

When I enable Final Gathering I don't see any sign that it is working at all, this has got to be a dumb mistake on my part but I can't seem to find what the problem is.

I've uploaded the scene to http://www.neutrondog.com/temp_uploads/ if someone could take a look at it and see what I'm missing I would appreciate it.

Thanks

edit: Forgot to add that I'm using XSI 5.11 Ess

You need to light the scene with an enviroment or lights.
Things to check for
Have you put an enviroment in your pass ?
When using an enviroment with hdri or colour you only need one light with zero intensity
and you'll get all the light from the enviroment.
Turn FG bounces up to 1 or 2

cheers

Thanks FuriousD, there is a light in the scene but it's intensity is set to almost zero.

I've attached a screen shot of the scene. The upper cube has a constant shader on it and if I understand correctly it should provide most of the lighting for the scene when I enable FG but this is not happening.

Go into the constant shader/Global illumination tab and turn up the intensity:)
Check out the XSI tuts its all covered there.

Manny is a cool dude who actually works for SoftImage. I had him on the phone for ten minutes once and saw the light... I was finally gathered 8-).

You're right FuriousD, although I went through the tutorials quite a while ago it looks like it's time to review them again.

Hey LemonNado, that's a great link. I don't know how I haven't run across it before.

Thanks guys.
