Theres a pretty Good Model of a harley at this wesite.
http://www.fantasticarts.com/3dmodels/3dauto.htm
you could take a 3 way view of the engine from that. and add detail from side pictures
But if you want Pictures of actual Engines then im as stumped as you are
posibly a Harley Mechanic?
Arrrgh ya beat me to it :) ....I used to own an EVO 1200 Sportster.I think I still have my workshop manual which has a number of motor specs and images, only thing is Harley are very very agressive in their legal department,so instead of me scanning some pics try your local library in the workshop manuals area. What you will be wanting is 1340 etc,so go for a Wideglide,Softtail,or Low rider manual. The sportys have different crank cases and dont look as cool, plus the big blocks have forward controls from factory and the Sportys dont :)
What model are you looking for?......I might be able to help out by narrowing your search criteria :)

Great idea on the Library. Geez I almost forgot they existed anymore....:D . I want to model a knucklehead, I think it's the nicest looking motor Harley ever generated. It's got that great sculptured form to it. Of course wanting to model it and actually being successful at it are two different things. If you are interested there is now a company in Sweden, of all places, that is manufacturing Replica Flatheads and Knuckleheads:
http://www.flatheadpower.com
If your a Harley lover you can't help but go AAAhhhh when you see all those beautiful Heads lined up on the workbench...And you can't help but go UGGGGH when you find out they are asking $8,000 for an engine...But then again it's not much more than a Fathead and to be honest the New Harley engines sound great, work great, but errr, uhhh, look a bit like a Honda (Being the Global, politically correct, 21st century kind of guy that I am) ....Did I say that?
D.T.:hmm:
Ya Knuckles are a work of art,a noisy work of art :) ,same with Pans.
Wooah 8000 thats pretty steep, are they EVO knuckle hybrids?
The Veerod doesnt do much for me,although apparently they are MEGA quick.
If you cant find what you want I will dig through some mags for you bud :)
A knuckle work shop manual would be pretty hard to find DT.

Oh ya this will give you a laugh.I went out for a ride one day and I had forward pegs {not controls just pegs},anyway I rode into town and back and there was this one beautiful big sweeping corner where you just lean way over and nail it coming out again.I got home looked over the bike {had been using the factory pegs } and I had a missing front peg and a small crack in the bracket which DID hold it,damn I went white as a ghost,I dont know when it broke off but I am lucky I am still here :)

Nope they are Knuckle replica's. Modified to better tolerances and higher degree of quality on the castings.
I didn't know that Aussies could actually get scared by anything other than something getting between them and their Foster's....:D
Duuuuuuuuuuude,Kiwi = New Zealand.......and I hate Fosters :D
Have you had any luck with Knuckle pics?

Wait a minute, Canada isn't the 51st state? :p
Hahahhaa no problem David  I have no problem with Aussies or Canadians, actually I have friends all over the planet, which is pretty cool really. All hail the net :)
Let me know how you get on,and if you dont have any luck I will pull down the huge box from the top of my closet and start digging.Actually I am kinda surprised the box has not gone through the shelf it sits on :)
If you find a knuckle maybe we all could try modelling the joint to find the easiiest way to model it,I am in if you want to try?

Canada rocks. I'd love to move to Vancouver Island and just hangout, watch hockey, and drink beer, eh!!! .
As far as a team effort, I'm totally up for it. One of the things I've discovered with this hobby, 3D, if you want to do something of any quality, it takes lots and lots of time. It really does lend itself to team effort...So Stu I'm in...If you have some decent pics of engines SCAN BABY, SCAN... To bad I didn't think of this 6 months ago when we had the Faro arm kicking around on our Construction. I could have gotten a hold of some parts and digitized them...:D I'll drop you a private email....
D.T.
Unfotunately I dont have the time to a whole bike team effort David, but the engine should be ok,in particular its the knuckle joint which interests me  I think mag wheels would be a good idea as opposed to spokes, spokes would take ages I think :hmm:
The scans will have some moiree {sp} bud from the printing process, but I will see what I can find.
Stu.
Ya Vancouver sounds nice.I know quite a few people there :)
