ok, I've given myself a headache trying to remember how to do this ....

If I happen to make 2 Rail curves.... and a Profile Curve..
How do I go about snapping the end points of my Profile curve onto my 2 Rail curves?

I can make 2 Rail curves and use Snap to Curve and then draw a Profile curve and everything is ok...

but if I just happen to have my Profile curve not already lined up/snapped to etc... the two rail curves... how then would I fix that so Birail will work.

I used to do it back in maya 2.0.....but I've forgotten how ....

I've tried snapping the end Vertex of my Profile curve to the Rail curve.. but Snap to Curve doesnt seem to want to work in that instance.... though Snap to point does...

And I could have Sworn I used Curve Points to do this.. but I feel like I used to slide Curve points etc...and snap them...But I cant seem to get that to work either.

any tips are greatly appreciated!

thanks!!

john

Ahhh... I was on the right track... I think I got it now... I just needed to use my middle mouse button at the right time..

now I just need some Asprin

there's a very useful script called lockintersections from AW - it basically point constraints two curve points (which you select) and places a locator at the intersection - might be an overkill for just birailing but can be quite useful when modeling with curves

and regarding the curve snapping

the manual states that you have to use the middle mouse button to snap

the key is not to drag the selected component to the curve - but to directly MMB on the curve you want to snap to

so don't drag your vertex (neither LMB or MMB) but MMB click on the curve you want the selected component to snap to

thats what it was... I knew I was on the right track, lol...just been too many years. Thanks for the tip too on that script... I'm looking for it now at AW site.

Thanks again!
