View Full Version : Another Robot
Well, this is like my 4th or 5th time at trying a robot model. I can't seem to get what I want when doing these things. However, this one seem to be going pretty well thus far so I thought I would post it to see what you all think:

Any crits thus far are appreciated.

I had some good advice given me about modeling robots. Add lots of wirey things about joints and little robotic circuits and such in exposed parts. It's the details that sell the concept.
Though, if you're going with a manga style robot, the rules change. But, more detail is never bad.
You look like you're going in the correct direction, I can wait to see the finished :D

Nice. Looks good so far, kind of reminds me of iron giant. Looking forward to seeing more.

He's cool in a dorky kinda way...maybe you could add a small grill around were a nose would be...could make him more anthropormofic(sp?)...how did you post such a large pic?

Looking good so far, but I agree with nervous_twitch - details are what you want. At the moment, I would say that you should try to make a rim or lip where the eyes join the head, and the shoulders join the body. This will look as if there is a recess where the parts have been fitted into, therefore maintaining the feeling that it has been "built".

imo, this robot is nice, i prefer manga/anime style like "the iron giant" or "Dr slump' robot"
rather than detail the model, pay attention on mapping, it s really important to give some behaviour and personnality on it.
made with blender... ? really good beginning !

Wow! Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.
nervous_twitch: I know what you mean. Not sure if I will go with the wires and such on this one though. I like the sort of clean look it has going right now.
funchki: I see what you mean. I will try and add some of that detail. Good call!
Manicalavera15: Yep, 100% Blender! I love this little program and I really love the price. ;)
Thanks again, and here is an update from last night that I didn't get posted:

Will have another update today.
Thanks again all.

OK, here is another update:

I am not sure I like the feet thus far. I might change them up. I will also sketch out some hand and arm combinations later today to see where I want to go with that aspect.
Again, thanks for all you comments thus far.
