Title: The Dreamcatcher
Name: Stephan Royer
Country: USA
Software: Photoshop

This was for another conceptart weekly contest, with a theme of "The Dreamcatcher." I used Photoshop, and spent around 10 hours on it.

The young children of Mother Tulane's orphanage gossip and whisper at bed time. They look forward to the night that the dreamcatcher pays them a visit. Their home is truly a breeding ground for some of the most wonderful dreams, as the children dream harder than other children. When the dreamcatcher arrives he whipsers out to them, and they climb aboard his soft fur. He leaps around their home with his long arms waving and reaching for the dreams that each child requests. When he catches one, he bottles them up and slowly works them down to the ground with the hands on his underbelly.

Dreamcatcher: Hang on kids, HERE....WE...GOOO!
Kids: weee..!

I love this - I watched My Neighbour Totoro a couple of nights ago and it was just incredible - this is evocative of that style - magical and vibrant.

Very good image Stephan!
The house IMO is a little bit to static (straight / boxy). The catcher is very well designed!
Impressive image.

Wow, thanks for stopping in all :) It's funny you mentioned "My Neighbor Totoro" PMD, because Miyazaki is one of my favorites of all time. Between him, Jim Hensen, Dr. Suess, Tim Burton and Don Bluth there's plenty of inspiration! I'm thinking about creating a children's book so this is good practice.

Its so cute! It has the familiar whimsical feeling one gets after watching My Neighbour Totoro. I like it! The focus is really on the creature itself! Nice!
