View Full Version : Xpresso question Let spline grow ( sort of )
prayas 09-10-2006, 03:58 PM Hi there.
Back again with some (maybe) stupid question.
I'm playing around with mograph and in particular the sound deformer. My goal is to get a sound deformer taking control over the parameters of a sweep NURBS. Here comes the problem. I don't have lot of knowledge how Xpresso is working.
Any chance somebody can help me set this up? I can set up a scene so far but need the help on the xpresso part.

thanks
EDIT: after reading over the text i wrote i think i need to explain it a little more in detail.
I only like to control the grow end parameter in the sweep NURBS by using a sound.

Tagging along for the ride here.
I can't get the info transfered over as well.
Not sure which element of a sound effector would contain the data needed.
I even tried baking (tag) a cloned object (effected by sound) to transfer it to the end parameter of the sweep, but I guess that info is inside the tag and not burned into the transform tab of the cloner. I don't even know what I'm talking about anymore :)

You know, really the question for me is how to get any data out of a sound effector.
Would be nice to apply it to any other parameter in cinema.

Use the sample effector node (the manual covers it's use, and I believe one of the tutorials in fact covers the specific use of the sample effector node using sound effectors).

Thanks for the clue.
I've been steadily working my way through the manual along with various tuts with Mograph open infront of me. Tried reading the manual when I first got the module and couldn't retain much without the software open. Haven't gotten this far I guess :)

I'm posting a screenshot, since I'm using an audio clip that I nabbed from the trapcode site, I won't host it (legal matters, I'm not gonna get involved with lol).

It's very basic, very primitive, but hopefully this will push you in the right direction

looks pretty nice. thanks for the link and yes - searching the forum always helps. I know.
One question stays for me. No that i can deform the end value via sound effectors, how can i set a starting value? Right now it always starts with zero. What to do to get it started with let say 25 percent?

You would use a rangemapper to clamp the start position.
