These are the rules:
You have 50 mn to do your sketch. IF you go beyond the assigned time limit , you have to post WHATEVER you have done after the time has expired, along with the FINAL drawing.

Only final pieces can be posted on the thread. They must have been done AFTER the topic has been announced.
RESOLUTION : The image can have any aspect ratio up to 800 x 600
They can be done on any medium.
If you wish, you can add a brief text description about your piece.
Only original compositions. No "tributes" or plagiarizing, unless is it an integral part of the challenge.
You can post an entry at anytime for the topic presented on this thead BEFORE the voting thread for THE WEEK has been posted.
The artist also has to post total length of time it took and program used.
Any piece caught breaking the rules will be taken off the thread.
The topics will be picked at random from the list on the TOPICS thread >>LINK<< (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php/?t=145003)

This was the view from my window. I took a photo with my digicam to grab it while it was still around and then painted from that.

[edit]
After reading the "paintover please" (http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=359226&page=9&pp=15) thread I got inspired again and improved it a bit. I think it's bearable now :) (see right one above)
Comments to improve it futher appreciated of course.

From the sky she watches patiently for her love, protecting him from unseen dangers while waiting for the day their eyes meet again...

Robertt > I love! the colours in your piece. The line you wrote above your piece gives it an extra sense of bitter sweetness. I like what you've done. Good job
Grevy > Welcome and nice first post! I thought your piece was a little bizzare but it totally appealed to me :) I like it.
JimiPhoenix > Gosh how much do I love yours? It feels so whimsical, like a delightful children's book illustration. Just something about the man and the way his coat collar flies up I really dig. Also the woman on the broomstick and the adorable flying pig with the strange expression in his eyes. Yup, definatly dig worthy. Least in my opinion anyway.

Thanks for your comments Silken Shadow. If anything I intended it to be even more whimsical than it turned out, but Photoshop crashed about four times during the process, so once I reached a certain point, I just kind of left it.
I did this sketch with my little sister sitting next to me, and she suggested that the pig was actually dead. I really hadn't intended to bring that kind of mood to the image, so I asked her how it had died. She said, "It was butchered. Gordon Ramsay butchered his pigs."
...no more TV for her. I also declined her request to name the picture "Flying Pigs From Heaven" :D
30 mins, PS. One day when I was younger I saw a cloud in the shape of a wolf, but none of my friends believe me!
"See it! It's right there~ Look there!",I say.
they say, "What? I just see a bunch of pretty clouds!", "No it's right there , it's a wolf!" I say.
Hehe. I am American native and there is a legend that says the wolves are our ancestors' spirits. I believe my ancestor spirit watch over me. Especially that day in the sky.

After the Satan-riding-evil-Kea sketch I figued I'd better do another NZ themed sketch to prove we're not all quite that crazy  .
So here's the classic flying kiwi.

... embryotic's flatmate - For your first ever drawing in photoshop, that's pretty good. I know mine was considerably worse.

In hindsight, I probably should have pushed the perspective and given this a more extreme angle of view, but it was a fun way to start today. Photoshop; 40 min.

lol, that's a pretty cute little story. Too bad about Photoshop crashing so much but the title your little sister made up is priceless.

Hey guys and girls!
I tried to make a war picture of parachute-soldiers.
I found it realy difficult and i know i still got loads to learn.
I hope anyone can give me some good advise about this and about sketching overall.

Hey, I know I'm late :/ I wanted to finish all my entries for the Blizzard art contest first.
So here's my entry: Started out as a picture of an angel flying or something, I spent like 15-20 minutes on it, then drew the clouds, and when I put the flying dude back in there, it was hiding all of the clouds. Since it was crappy looking, I totally changed my mind and put a tiny plane instead which took me a few minutes to draw. So, it took me 1h to make it all, but since the angle doesn't appear on there, you can remove 20 min
So here's a 40min sketch:
http://www.triskell-productions.com/CGtalk/in%20the%20sky.jpg
Photoshop+tablet.
By the way, I haven't watched the other people's entry before drawing this, and it really changes the way my mind works to create pics... I'll do that each time now I think.
Anyway, enjoy, and sorry I was so late : /
