View Full Version : Environment: Tree House
arrow 01-28-2003, 08:06 PM I only got MAX a few weeks ago and this is my first real scene. Any tips on how to improve my 3D work would be greatly appreciated. Thanx!

Here's the wireframe
Pretty cool. That would be a fun scene to play around with!

very nice scene...
I think there are two things you could improve: one is more detail. Both the ground and the ocean are too uniform - some rocks, plants, trees (?) or maybe even just a more interesting terrain would be great; also, the texture is not defined enough in my opinion, and a little too repetitive (is it procedural? it looks like it).
Second thing - the lighting is a little flat. You have the moon in there - it would be cool if you had the moonlight too, which would give the objects a highlighted edge, and perhaps a secondary source of light (different color?) coming from somewhere on the ground. The light needs to reveal more of the volume and surface of the objects.
Still, a very nice setting... keep at it!

Thanx for the advice idokalir, I'll see what I can do about the lighting and textures and I'm thinking about adding a stone path leading from the base of the stairs. I'll post the finished pic as soon as I'm done.
