View Full Version : Premiere or After Effects: Exporting for Web
deebster 09-09-2006, 10:08 AM What compression should I use to get my movie files small enough, but clear enough for the web. I really like the quality of .mov files.

that depends on how many users you want to reach. the used codec will work only with a special version of quicktime and above.
if you would reach useres that have at least...
...QT5: use "Sorenson 3"
...QT6: use "3ivX"
...QT7: use "H.264
i would prefer 3ivx that needs QT6 to play. you can download it at www.3ivx.com (http://www.3ivx.com). this is a mpg4 codec that compresses much better than the one that ships with QT6 but is fully compatible with it.
good luck,

Sorenson 3 is the best.
If you can get it, you should use Sorenson Squeeze which is amazing. Another option is to import th movie clip into flash and export flv or swf.

I've written some tips on Quicktime export here:

(requires Quicktime Pro though)
