Hi...

Below there is an image rendered with FinalRener using Global illumination,...
You can see the back dots and the white things in the corners of the immage...

I don't think there is anything wrong with the GI settings... I followed a step by step tutorial... Em... and this 1 time a friend sent me a .max file with a similar corner scene and i got the same problem,... but for him it rendered just fine...

Thank you...
(btw: using 3ds max 4.0 )

well looks like you have to increase the number
of the RH-Rays and the min. and max. Density
but be very careful with the settings.

The black and big ugly white dots are called
"Artifacts" and caused by a low amount of
rays :)

Do a double check on your geometry too. fR is rather fussy about all faces having to be joined in a lot of cases or light bleeding occurs which is what that looks like to me. :)

looks like an intersection problem to me - Finalrender uses Max to parse the geometry before giving it to fR, & max's intersection calulations are not all that accurate.... :(

You could:
upgrade to Max4.2.6 (that is what fR is meant to run on & there may be problems running it on 4.0)
Upgrade fR to 1.3 (first patching it to 1.2) that has a marked increase in the accuracy of the intersection detection & generally fixes problems like these.
overlap your walls - if you make your walls from 3 boxes & have them completely intersect each other, it may help Max determine that it is an intersection & not a gap...

good luck! :)

I think what youre seeing is light coming through the corners of your box.you used a box and flipped the normals right?its better to make three wall boxes then use them to make a box, with each box overlaping the other.so no light can get through.heres some screens just incase you dont understand me.

First of all tnx 2 all...

OK,... i still haven't solve the problem
Here's what i tried:

Make the corner of:
3 perfectly aligned boxes - failed
3 overlaping boxes - failed
inverting box normals - renders fine! (but i still need to solve the problem with the boxes)

I am currectly downloading max 4.2 upgrade (not downloaded yet)

I read in a prevorius post about some license problems cousing same Artifacts... what is it all about? how is it solved?

tnx again,... great forum:)

sick_azz_3D,... if you would send me the .max file, i would render it and see what heppens... my mail: jereb.dusan@siol.net

the license thing is something different - you end up with what looks like white snow all across your render - it is what happens if your plugin in is not authorised.

OK... I finnaly managed to solve my problem!:) I'm so happy...

I would like to thank all for help...

If anyone is having similar problems with FR, using 3ds max 4,... UPGRADE IT TO 4.2,... that's the solution:)

So they all lived happly ever after:)

(ps: sorry for my english :) )
