Title: Gamma Girl
Name: Daniel Askins
Country: China
Software: Bryce, Photoshop, Wings3D
The story here. Post apocalyptic civilization mutants and cyborgs rule the land and there are the occasional artifact from the past. (my Napoleon is there too) The beast is computer enhanced with some controls given to the rider. There is even a button for adrenalin to pick up speed and power.
All models and UV maps made by myself in Wings 3D. (yes people too no poser models the statue also) Render in Bryce 5.01 and postwork and textures in Photoshop 5.0 LE.
The creature is based on a few things one is the 3 meter tall carnivorous flightless brid and the oviraptor among some others. Wanted to make a weird sort of Sci Fi pic the kind you don't see here too often. The color on the girl just worked our better than natural skin tone.

I do reccomend Wings a lot it is relativly easy for most to get a grasp of and is quite powerful and is free. I did all the modeling for this pic in wings. After you get the hang of wings and you wan to spend a little money Silo is similar in its interface. For rendering I use Bryce because I don't have the cash to spend on new programs I bought it back in 2001. There is a relativly inexpensive version of Carraera that you can render in. Carrera has more and better rendering options than Bryce. Pick up a graphics tablet you will get some pretty good software with it and you get a tablet to do some of your textures.
Something to remember even though you do not have the best tools with my reccomendations. (Actually Wings is excellent in many aspects and can hold its own against even programs costing thousands of dollars) you will not have to invest a fortune. I beleive that computer art is like regular art if you can draw you can also do CG fairly well. If you cannot draw learn how to draw you need to be able to see the shapes and draw them then you can do the same in 3D. Spending thousands of dollars will not give you talent, time, patience and practice will give you talent.
3D graphics are a lot of fun and I hope you can find the time to enjoy them. Start out simple and measure yourself against yoruself so you can view your progress. Ther eare many people out there who can make great works don't be intimidated, work at it and try to improve every time you make something.

Hats off for you for modeling your own characters instead of using poser presets. This has given you a personal style and your characters are constantly improving.

Thanks Bazze it is a heck of a lot more work but a lot more rewarding.
