We just got handed a scoop for some important news with one of the next-generation consoles. We can't talk about any specifics yet, but you have our word that this announcement is something worth waiting for.
Expect all the info tonight here at Joystiq at 12:01 a.m. Eastern
KOTAKU (http://www.kotaku.com/gaming/secret/new-new-console-info-hitting-at-midnight-199195.php)
Expect to hear some kinda interesting news about a very interesting upcoming console at 12:01 a.m. EST Friday. The embargoed news was sent out to a bunch of newspapers and websites with the understanding that no one would print the information until first thing in the morning.
While I'm sure you will all find it endlessly fascinating, in the end it really won't get you any closer to the news most people want to know.
Make sure to head back to Kotaku one minute into tomorrow to read the details and see a wee bit of analysis. Brian Crecente

There is so much hype right now with all the videogame stuff, I ignore all of it.
Until the games or consoles end up in my local WalMart, it's all BS.

I'm with you Bish. Believe what you see and not what they say.

Well, let's see the hints:
a very interesting upcoming console
can't be the X360 then;
see a wee bit of analysis.
but can it be the PS3 or the Wii then?
Just guessing here though...

Isn't Nintendo doing their official official announcement about the Wii on Sept 14th? I'm interested in that one, but outside of that, yeah, I just wanna check it out in the store.

I read all the comments in my stories, so of course I'll see yours.
My embargo has to do with details on a next-gen system. I really can't get into specifics, because I can't break that embargo.
I really don't know who else has gotten the news. I would assume major outlets did also. But, I did get an interview with a major party involved, so there's a chance I could have content that someone else might not.
Now that we're just 4 hours away, I'll tell you this: It has to do with the Wii. More than that, I really can't say.
The horsepower of the Wii has been downplayed the whole time. It will also output HD resolutions.
Of course, that kind of news might make Nintendo look a bit hypocritcal. Hmmm.... Maybe it's the final pricing and release date.

i'm guessing it is Nintendo. Sony doesn't do anything without a press release and show and Microsoft has X06 later in the month.
maybe Nintendo learned all they have to do is tell two game blog sites and within 2 hours, the rest of the world knows. free PR and frankly, the internet blogs love Nintendo.
I'm guessing a Wii price. that's the worse damage they can do against the PS3 right now.

Actually Kotaku was somewhat sarcastic about it, saying earlier today:
"While I'm sure you will all find it endlessly fascinating, in the end it really won't get you any closer to the news most people want to know."

Talk about hyping things up and then kicking you right in the nads. All that excitement just over some chips being shipped.
Now only if newegg would get my new core 2 duo chip to me a little faster!

They probably hyped it becuase Intel has been getting some negative spin recently with their upcomming lay offs and everything. I guess this is just spin to show people that Intel is still alive and kicking.

comeon, you guys should've all learned lesson by now: whenever Nintendo says there's gonna be a huge anouncment it is always gonna be a small one. It is actually a direct relationship between "Big Announcment" and "Head Scratching, Confussion, and Let Down". The more hype Nintendo puts into an an upcoming announcment the more head scratching, confussion and let down there will be as well

Actually I'm pretty sure Nintendo placed an embargo on the news itself, seems to be what Joystiq and Kotaku were saying before the news was unveiled.
