Hey Guys,

I just finished 'Storm in a Tea Cup'
I created this shot animation to try and learn more about particle flow. For the main tornado I just used a 'Super Spray' with a 'Path Follow'. I was a bit disappointed with that. I couldn't seem to get a good looking 'swirl' with 'Speed by Icon'. I think scripting will be next on the agenda.

Cool stuff man. Liked the breakdowns and all. The only critique I have -- as you said you were focused on the particle effects and exploration -- is probably the accuracy of the tornado (or funnel cloud). Just wondered what your reference was as with most tornados I've seen, the funnel descends from the top down like fingers from the bottom of the clouds. I notice your's forms from the middle out. Then again if it was just an exercise to see what you could do with particles, then accuracy from that point may not be your concern. Just a thought.

Other than that...pretty darn cool.

Very good point PureMoxi. I had a couple of references 'Day After Tomorrow' and some news footage from freak tornado in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. They were pretty much as you said.. To be honest, the forming of my tornado is not that accurate. The Sydney reference I used didn't really have much of a visible core, but when it hit some buildings, the debris was sucked up from the ground.. This is probably a bit different to what I've done though. Good spot, and thanks for you comments, much appreciated.
