Is this the same tool? I wanna start this tutorial but i can't figure out this redlines! They're not cv's... i think! :rolleyes:

Looks to me that it is a overlay drawing used in the screen capture program.....not a function of maya.....

In the first picture it is cv's...

In the last on it looks like he is using the draw cv's tool and set the colour to red.

Well i'm pretty sure it'd just Maya itself :)
The attached image was taken from the Maya 4 Fundamentals videos... I did the "red question mark" so don't mind that... What i'm looking for it't that pen icon tool... That's a tool whitin maya!
I'm going nuts here... :(

are you talking about the pencil curve tool from the curves tab or create menu?oppps! you already said thats not it. I'll ask someone at school tommorrow.

the red lines are plain old curves drawn with the CV or EP curve tool - just in a layer with a red wireframe color

What you are looking for is not something inside maya. It's some external program which lets you draw on your "screen", on desktop, in programs etc.

In the maya fundamentals they got this program open to be able to draw and show you what they are talking about.
It might be inbuild with the recording software they are using.

isn't he refering to the red outline curves in the viewports?

you see the little pen in the last image? that's what he meant, the curves on the car is not made by that pen, it's made by cv curves.
The pen is for sketching on screen, for showing the viewers of the training movies what they are talking about.

i see - i can't figure out what the purpose of this tool would be - maybe Veqtue can tell us why he needs this in the first place - why don't you use the pencil curve tool or the cv/ep curve tool?
