right now we are using athlon x2 3800 for compositing.
my boss is suggesting macs for our post prod.the probelm is we are not that familiar with macs.

Well, a bigger consideration is the software expenditure. If you convert to Mac and all of your software is PC then you will either have to get new software or a copy of Windows for each mac and then run in the emulation mode which, I hear, is a little slower than running it on a PC. If it were me I would not convert to Mac unless there was some more compelling reason to do so because the price/performance for Mac is not as good as a PC, especially if you build your own rig(s).

qwatkins were not planning to shift 2 macs my boss just wanted to have our own post production depts. and shes asking about all the hardware that is necesary for our post prod dept. shes suggesting macs coz she said that its the standard when doing post prod ( which i dunno whats the standard is, coz im only the modeller animator here )

my other question is if we use macs as for our post prod, will it still accept seq image ( tiff ), or do we need to convert it to another format?
