Ancient World Online (AWO) SCI-FI MMO

Status: TBA (4% Complete) First Milestone Met

Brief description(WIP):
The four borders of Empria have collapse and now the Sidueans race to Borcaia’s gates to unleash war upon Hyperion and its allied planets. Join forces with your friends and embark on a legendary journey across the universe to stop the dark forces. Live. Travel. Fight

The Backstory:

Journeying far deep into the galaxy the Mining crew of sector 4F start the daily resource mining near Gak Wik Prime. As they continue to extract ore from the asteroids which Gak Wik Prime is rich in. As one of the trading gates is opened a error occurs on the set coordinates and a new portal opens up displaying a red outburst of stars. The captain of the mining fleet quickly alerts the Economic and Universal Coalition of Territories (EUCT). Which send out a small gun fleet to check out the new portal. Commander Jarang Orders his fleet into the portal on June 6th 3045, the fleet is never seen again.
Three years after Commander Jarangs fleet a small scouting fleet come across an early gunship which was used by Jarang. An ID Number of 3453-StarElites is red upon its side. Blast holes are shown right throughout the ship and left wing has been blown off. Information is sent straight to EUCT and further investigation starts.
Working with the Union of the Suns the EUCT send a Portgeneic Engineer to obtain coordinates from the strange portal. The Engineer will be escorted by some of EUCT’s finest starship fighter ships.
Setting off for the journey one of the wifes of Timryth Esdor rings the EUCT to send a hologram message to his starfigher telling him to be care full and she will be waiting for him when he gets back. The engineer and the fleet set off at 3am just before Kabowa 6 green sun rises making travel impossible. Three hours into the journey and only another thirty minutes left Genra Fregor spots a few objects on the radar which shouldn’t be there. Genra radios in to command and command give clearance to investigate. Genra brakes off from the fleet and flys towards the unknown objects. The fleet carry on. Only 10 mintues and the waypoint is in sight on there radar screens, suddenly an urgent radio message comes through from Genra “Ive been hit, Ive been hit”. There was no more communication from Genra. The fleet was set to full alert. Approaching the gate a bundle of thiry objects appear on the radars all ranging in size. The fighters assume there to big for fighter or even starships.
7am a radio message comes into command “There’s so many, how is this possible there size is impossible”. EUCT start to worry and contact the
Galactic Space Federation Council (GSFC) which send out a message of demand to the sector were the radio message came from. A hologram message was sent back at 10pm. A figure about seven foot stood infront of the GSFC looking at them all, with his arms casauly behind his back. He looks at the council leader and grins. “The time Is now, For many years you out kasted the federation of Empria now we declare war on your galaxy surrender to us or we shall take your territories by force...transmission out” The council are all surprised by this and quickly react calling in on allies and EUCT Star commanders to arrange a meeting for War.

In the Councils Quarters in Hyperion City on planet Anavon some of the most powerfulness leaders sat and discussed the issue of war on Empira. The attendees would include:

Galactic Space Federation Council (GSFC)
USR Parliamentary Alliance
The Federation of Shires
Economic and Universal Coalition of Territories (EUCT)
Omega Titanious Alliance
Technocratic Solidarity of Yandor
Alliance Gak-Wik-Prime
Authority of Star runners
Plutocratic Syndicate of Governmental Problems
Union of The Suns

All these Organizations gathered as one to help fight the forces of Empria. The meeting last four hours and ended without the public knowing. Soon a Television broadcast from the GSFC representative Soul Carnack and EUCT’s General Ort Yurg appeared on every capital cities Advertisement Boards across the galaxy. Telling the public of the threat of Empira and the Damage they have caused already. The whole galaxy comes to a hault and the word of war is in the air. EUCT recruiters appear in many cities asking for Fighter pilots. Will you be one of them?


Target aim:
We aim to create a sci-fi MMO which breeds and lives the true vision of the futuristic world. Fly cars, travel the mono rails, explore the deep sectors of space

We have spent our funding on building the company aswell as events to help make solar systems studios apart of the industry. We do not know yet if we can supply any sort of funding as the title will be free of charge.

We have a few publishers intrested, and from this we are allowed to go arround picking mmo engines if needed one engine we have had a close look at is the Hero Engine wwwheroengine.com. As the team will be working online the hero engine tools allow teams say modellers to place cities all online in realtime and the concept artists to be workign on some part of the world, so you will be creating and placing content all in realtime. A massive advantage the internet game design companies i assure you.

Not saying we will be building awo with Hero but theres a big chance.

We did have a look at big world but realtime content creation and placing isnt possible with it. With heroengine developers cna alter the game while its online. Start from a square pieace of ground, mappers mould the square adding moutains etc, artists paint the ground whiel watching moutains rise, then the modellers join the fun and start adding the content along with the game designers.

Sounds fun, we are looking for experiance and skills this is a serious project which will be shown at major events such as GDC London 2006, Brighton Games, E3 hopefully and so on.

Description: A game designer is someone with creative ideas, a mind of which the imagination is the limit. As Ancient World Online wants to change MMORPG genre, we are requiring talented and creative individuals to come join our design team. Working under the Lead Game Designer you will be able to take simple notes into a full fledge story.

Responsibilities:

*Creating The World Lore for the game, this will allow players to read into the worlds history and really get into the role-playing system
*Document the game design and communicate the vision of game systems to leads and team members
*Participate in game design, content, and new feature discussions
*Work with the technical staff to design and improve tools
*Work with the world building team to implement content.

Requirements:

Experience playing massively multiplayer online games.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience the RPG genre and story written lore
Passion for games and detail design
Experience balancing game systems and content.
Strong creative writing or analytical skills.

Must have a huge interest in the SCI-FI genre and have a wide range of games he/she has played. You will be required to set up balancing sheets and stat release forms as well as the main ideas of the game such as the skill system tree and the games economy level system.

At hand you will be able to work along side the producer and other game designers as well as the concept team.

A true visionary game designer is what we look for, not just the story and background behind the game but the look and feel of the game is what we seek.

Concept Artists

The Concept artist must show a high level of drawing or painting skills.

Description: Applicants should be skilled in level of design and sketch art and crafting; objects, buildings and also characters (may apply). Terrain sketching and environmental work is a must within a artist. Applicants should also have experience working within technical design parameters and also graphical enhancement and show a great determination on construction and fine art. Applicants should be able to work with the game engine concept in order to produce, design or creative an ideas roll, the ability to work from concepts and the ability to collaborate within a team environment to create the visually stunning results required for best quality work.

Responsibilities:

Working directly with the Art director. You are responsible for creating the concepts. Participate in a weekly Artists and Animators meeting, to communicate the weekly planning and review work in progress.
Requirements:

Photoshop or other experience with photo editing software
Sketch, Fine Print Concepts
Create work flow and schedule
Meet project deadlines and milestones as set by Lead Art Director.
Assist within the project borders
Have 1+ years of applicable experience of a Concept Designer (2D)

3D Artists

A 3D artist must show high knowledge and understanding of the work he/she has to task in hand. Modelling from pictures/descriptions/and concept the artist must be able to create high quality models for ingame.

If you specialize in more than one that is a extra and wil be noticed in the interview.

We support, Maya, 3ds Max 7+, Wings 3d, MilkShape, Truespace 3d.

Also enviroment artists we support:

Ted, Mapcrafter, and realmcrafters default mapping tools.


Note: We like to see the artists as very imaginative and show a wide interest and accessibility into there creative minds. Working with the game designers through visionary and descriptive speech/documents you then must translate it into forms of artwork which then can be passed onto the next phase and ready for the 3d art department.

Jesus well if it isnt a small world, my eyes popped when i read ' Wyedean Sixth Form School designs of £60,000 new building' its Allsop isnt it?

Hope it all comes together for you, im not sure how reliable it is for a mmorpg but the Ogre3d (http://ogre3d.org/)engine looks pretty impressive, and its free , even if you make a commercial game with it all they require you to do is publish any changes you made to the engine

Hey tom cheers, but we always aim big going for bigworld tech was a challange then when we got the chance we declined after dark and lights problem with the server. Hero engine looks real good and able to create and edit content in realtime while ingame is very impressive and would help and online company such as ourseleves with employees working from all over the world.
