View Full Version : Using a texture to emit fluids???
spirit_of_stars 09-05-2006, 08:38 PM Hi!
I need to use a texture on my emitter object to emite fluids (fire)... Is it possible?
For the moment I dont find a way to do it. I can only connect texture to the container but not to the emitter.
I want to use a wet map generated by RealFlow to drive the fuel injection and the temperature...
Anyone can help me?
Thank You in advance!

Yes, it's possible, but takes a little scripting. The important command is called setFluidAttr.
You will need to create a copy of the fluid container you're simulating fire in. Using the paint fluids tool, import the wetmap image into the extra container. Turn off dynamic simulation in the extra container so it won't change the wetmap. Then write an expression using getFluidAttr and setFluidAttr that will copy the wetmap from the extra container into the bottom row of the original container every frame.
When you simulate the original fluid container, the expression will copy the untouched wetmap into the bottom row of the container, replenishing the fuel every frame.
