Hacked is a big word ;)

An exploit has recently been discovered in vbulletin 3.54 and higher (even the latest version has this flaw), that allows html execution in a thread title. It seems that a bunch of Turkish script kiddies are browsing the web in search of vbulletin forums which are vulnerable, and are redirecting forums to other websites using the exploit. Initially I didn't know what was going on, so I shut down the server to prevent possible data loss.

So if you are using vbulletin (3Dattack, cgtalk), check vbulletin.org for more information. Several posts have been made about this and it seems more and more people are being confronted with the above issue.

Call your local authorities and tell them that your site is being hacked by Turkish terrorists. I am not joking. We are all paying taxes to be protected from scum. Let the big guy's deal with it as well.

We all have a slight idea what will happen... but reporting has another valuable function. It can also become a liabilty to own a hacked site. If the contents is illegal all of a sudden, then good luck in trying to tell someone that your site has been hacked and that you have nothing to do with the contents. So.. reporting the incident is a valuable method of keeping your rear clear of trouble.

I think it's fixed now. Edited and replaced a string that filters out html from topic entries.
Let's see how the forum holds up :)

Old non-vulnerable versions of vbulletin for the win! :) I knew there must have been a good reason I never updated ;-) Thanks anyway
