WIP - Hispanic heritage Moth Poster 2006
Well I have been commisioned to do the Hispanic Heritage Moth Poster for my agency.
As soon as I get the scanner working Ill post the sketches.
Anyway here is my first result.
Kinda creepy, and It looks more like an Amnesty International Poster. Something I have to avoid...
This is my second pass
Crits and comments are welcomed.

What is the overall theme / concept? It would help to know to critique this as you get further along. :)

The theme of this year is "Hispanic Americans: Our Rich Cultures Contributing to America's Future."
The idea is this Hispanic looking woman "coming out".
I am thinking of changing the star background in the back, and adding more Latin symbols...
Using Aztec, Mayan, Taino symbols on the sides of the image.
Adding more faces to the mix might help (wich is the direction I am leaning anyway.....
It is still either way a WIP...

Hey, I think that what might help is to sketch your entire concept in detail as you did with the Wizard of Oz 2D WIP. What are the dimensions of your poster? You will want to think about the overall composition, and how much of the character will be shown.

Usually when I work on these commisions, I tend to do it in organic fashion..
the propotions are the same at the image above....
BTW I changed the theme...

Hey, I would draw out how you want the stripes to flow. Right now they seem a little random and chaotic.
I like that the message is about optimism, but you want it to be about ordered optimism, right? :)
Looking good so far, I take it you're just going to show the face. It might work pretty well if the face is pretty generic.

BTW the right theme "Hispanic Americans: Our Rich Cultures Contributing to America's Future."

Just be careful that you don't make these characters look like pirates, bandits, or '70's characters. ;)

One of the reviewers are said the same thing....

I like the idea of three faces better to.
maybe you could have the stripes weave like a snake around faces, only cover one or two of them

Here is a tweak after some comments ..

Well that dateline came and went and I had to deliver the project.
I am still not happy with it, but here it is.
And yes, the woman had a complete rhinoplasty in her face...
