View Full Version : Can't View IK Spline Handle CVs?

Not sure what I'm doing wrong...

I have a joint chain for a character spine that I want to use an IK Spline Handle tool for. Everything I've read says I create the IK Spline Handle tool then parent the CV's of the spline to clusters.

The problem is that once I create the IK Spline Handle I don't see any CVs? I tried right clicking on it and picking Control Point or Curve Vertex, that doesn't seem to show me anything. If I go to any sub object modes it's just like anywhere I click I see a vertex and I can drag it across the spline.

I dunno, I don't get it. I thought when I created my IK Spline Handle, when I select the number of spans, that determines how many CV's there will be.

How do I view them to parent to clusters? Please help!

hi,

when u create a spline IK, yes, you r right, by setting the number of spans, you are telling maya how many curve CVs you want finally...

If I go to any sub object modes it's just like anywhere I click I see a vertex and I can drag it across the spline. >> this might be that you are going into curve point mode not the control vertex ! try selecting your curve and hit F9 directly which shud take you to control vertex mode..

Everything I've read says I create the IK Spline Handle tool then parent the CV's of the spline to clusters. >> actually you dont parent the CV's of spline to clusters,.. you select the CVs and then you hit create cluster >> it creates a cluster, which will bind those selected vertices.. then dont get PARENTED under teh cluster, just that they get deformed by the cluster.

try this ....select your curve and go to edit curves menu > last option : selection >> cluster curve .. this shud automatically create clusters at every CV of the curve, all at once.. then you try to move the clusters, and this shud effect your joint chain..

Man you're an internet saint! Thanks! That did it, and is a big help :)
