View Full Version : what coord system do motion curves use?
notlongago 09-04-2006, 04:13 PM I am little confused about this matter because the rotation edit i do in perspective and in motion curve panel gives different result on same rotation channel (i use local in perspecyive general) . Any ideas?

Internally, messiah uses only parent coordinates AFAIK.
All the other modes are just for your editing pleasure.
But be sure to use parent yourself as often as possible, since only then a rotation around f.i. the x axis is really only a rotation around the x axis. Depending on how your object is rotated, you can otherwise get rotations on all 3 axes, which most of the time isn't desirable.

ok that makes sense Thomas, thanks for great explanation. That sounds like very important thing, i tried to look through the manual and i could not see this information. Maybe i missed it, but this should be on the first page of manual.

Its depends on the application.
Sometimes even though rotation on one axis only is what I realize as the most suitable, it doesnt work. Rotation on the 3 axis in some cases is mandatory, unfortunately when and why is something that exprerience will teach you, I cannot describe more :(
