View Full Version : shading / light for WIP's ????
I see alot of WIP's that have the shading of the object in a plain white'ish color. Usually the surroundings is also very bright. It almost looks like 'plastic' in a way..
Im quite new to 3dsmax.. I was wondering how you can achieve this?

That sort of shading is generally done with global illumination. It's a nice quick way to show off the model with soft highlights and shadows.
If you're using max 5, this fuctionality is built into the software (advanced lighting and skylight).:wavey:

They're usually either a default grey (ie. the standard material upon opening the material editor) or some kind of white. The illumination tends to wash out the colour a bit.
