Because of the mouth it looks more like a fish than a dragon IMHO.

yeah, i would have to agree i was thinking blowfish or something...maybe it will give off dragon when you have a body attached/modeled...what type of critique did you want?

Okay here are some tips for a dragon.
Dragons tend to be a bit evil (in allot of stories they are, and if they are not, the atleast look like they would've been evil)
So you could start by making the eyes less round, and make them a bit sharp.
Also the head could be a bit longer and less round.
The mouth should be bigger, it should go around the chins no just be in the middle of the head like you've done it.
A good this is to look for reference pics of dragons, when you want to learn model it's a good thing to try re creating something to get the hang of it, then you can start model of your own mind, but at first you should concentrate to make a good looking model instead of being very original.
Okay, I hope it helps a bit, good luck with the model!

I think dragons don't need to look a certain way really, I'm getting a baby dragon vibe from this guy though. So maybe a litle sharper and eviler, but not too much. You could have a really good thing going on. I like it though, look for fantasy stuff, like calendars or random art and you'll find great references. Maybe make his eye sockets more rigid or maybe more loose? They should always have some definition, and this one is cute but it could be a lot more perhaps. good job =) Im terrible with maya. Stick to it :)

ofcourse they don't need to look a certain way, but some guidlines is always good to follow if it's gonna looka bit like a dragon.
It's the same for humans, you follow certain guidlines to convince people it's human, but then you can define detail and personality, and those always change.

the texture looks a little rockish but it's great compared to my first character. keep at it

That texture looks kind of procedural. Have you thought about UV-mapping and painting textures? You're losing all of the modeling detail in the heavy colors.

that's cool, the texture should go maybe, or be improved. or maybe less bump? I like it though, all in all, when I look past the texture I think it has potential. Veqtue: I agree completely, for no references this guy is doing really well for a first model though. Later, keep it up and keep trying new things, :)
Looking good so far! but i think a dragon should have a big, long mouth?? and perhaps a thicker neck??

Right now it's a little hard to tell what it could be, maybe with a body you could get that dragon vibe you want.

I got it.. I couldn't realy figure out which creature I should make out of the head...
And know I got some thoughts about making a Underwater Dragon... I think that i'll make the body looks like a sealbody...
what do you think...?
I think that its to original to make a normal dragon so... :bounce:

the seal body idea is cool, maybe a little serpenty still? give him big long sail-like fins, like sea horses have, and segments of skin or armory plates =) or not. but whatever, hehe. underwater dragony beast, call it a leviathin then :) I think it has potential, your ideas definitely have direction. later then :)
