Could become a nice painting. Don't be afraid to test with different color contrasts. And playing with light and dark.To define her jawline better.
And try to really look at the eye's and their expression, what form they take on because of it. They are still to symetrical. And here right eye brow can use more character. stronger curve. It isn't completely a raised arch. The left part has actually got a downwards "dent" in (the line) it, because of here eye socket.

It seems your PS painting would benefit if you draw the face with pencil and paper first then scan in and paint. Dont jump right into digital first, most of the excellent work you've seen here are by people who have a heavy traditional art backround. Learn the anatomy of the head first, it will help you to know where certain values go. I recommend this book.

Here are some proportions of the female head by Andrew Loomis which you might find helpful.

Drawing from photos can be a challenge. You really need to pick the correct photo for it to come out the way you want it. Drawing the human face is really hard because our skin tones vary so much between the diferent planes of the face. Thus, having a picture of a face with direct lighting becomes insanely hard to paint because of the subtelty (sp?) in the tones. I suggest taking another picture of your friend with no flash. The flash in most cases ruins the lighting of picture and makes it too hard to paint.

fair point this is an old pic i just thought it'd b cool to experiment painting a face in PS ..... ive seen in imagine fx and sum threads in this forum that they paint the colour what they want on ther painting and then blend them in such an excellent affect thats what im trying to do but to no success lol ..... so i think i might start simple and draw an apple like some other people have and learn how to blend colours appropriately and then go back to this piece...... it just a learning process im going to hav 2 get through somehow..... As i was adding a lighter tone to the image it just looked to chalky and thats not what i want ......... but yep ill keep all these points in mind cheers 4 the reply
