I saw you put down 4 gigs of memory, but you're only getting a 32bit operatin system to run it on (regular XP), which can only use about 2.7 gigs of memory so there'll be 2 gigs of memory which you don't be using.
Upgrade to a X64 which can handle 16 gigs of ram, so your 4 gigs willl be used.

Your graphics card is oober high, what kind of work do you do?

Also, I saw you had a floppy drive in your configurations. I didn't know people still use floppys >_<

--edit--

I forgot to ask, what exactly will you be doing with this computer. That give others an idea of what youre doing and what kind of specs you'll need to help you with your configuration. That's is one hell of a computer you have set up there.

For a standard XP installation on a Woodcrest or Conroe system you need it to install the storage system drivers.
With the preinstalled Dell it shouldn't be neccesary for this though.

We use floppies almost weekly (daily if we've got alot of computers to go through)

Why? Because its easier and faster to set up ghost boot disks on floppies rather than pen drives. Plus floppies work on everything. Pendrives only work on computers with USB that they can boot from :)

kendraad: about the operation system you are rigth.... i will switch to 64 bit
for the vga card, that was suggested by them, and im gonna change it to some thing normal (idont believe in quadro).
what i do: autocad for modeling.....max and vray fro rendering....photoshop. the main purpose of that system is to speed up the rendering time.

Lots,

You know you can make bootable ghost cd or dvdroms? I actually setup most clones to a dvdr, then they just need one disk to boot to and restore the original clone.

We've actually gotten to the point at work that almost all floppy's have been eliminated. We just keep a usb floppy drive around in case someone stumbles in with some old data...but usually then the floppy's either damaged or destroyed, and anything that was on it was lost...those things break if you look at them funny!

Do you feel that the cpu at 3.0, or the video card are completely necessary? There is a drastic amount of money in those two components that could easily drop the configuration nearly 1500 USD lower if you bumped the vid card down, and the cpu's to 2.66. I don't know the financial background for this purchase, so I'm just throwing that out there.

You might also want to upgrade the hd, as a 160 is almost at cannon fodder level in this day and age....unless you're planning on buying decent harddrives seperately and installing them yourself.

$6,700 sure seems high to me. Even a MacPro configed the same (a little better actually) is cheaper. What are you going to do with it?

Indeed, its actually how I built the USB stick ghost boot drive. Many of our machines are pretty old and wont work with a bootable USB device (the last pentium IIIs have finally been replaced if thats any indication). Floppies always work :) Plus there are too many different types of network cards on our systems, thus we need many different drivers.

Granted eventually it will all be relativly up to date and we wont rely on floppies. Keep in mind we only use floppies to start a network ghost session, not to store any of the images.

GregHess,
i did mention that im gonna change the vga card cuz its a waste of money...but as for the cpu its important for me to render faster. cuz my clients does so many changes so i have to adjust and rerender and all that at high resl. to be honest i was shocked with geoffc post

Aye I'm aware of those scores (I'm a member of the vray forum). I'm just pointing out the price difference may not warrant the purchase...but when every second does, and you've got a line of clients lining up, buy away! It's all tax deducatable!

one more thing GregHess : 533 & 667 are two types of memory that suites the woodcrest 5160. you thing the 667 is better? (i have no idea what the numbers means).
*also does (2gb x 2) better than (1gb x 4)
