Hello dude
let me start by the good things which are:
-great choice for the bg "i think it's a real one thoug"
-taking good care of the light source which is an added value.
anything else need to be rebuilt!
Anyway keep it up
The environment looks pretty good. Is it 3d or a composite of photos? There's a weird mountain on the left which looks pasted on (floating shadow?)
I won't comment on the penguin model since you're going for cartoony but the lighting needs an overhaul. The light from the left is far too strong and seems to leave a black rim around the penguin. The contrast in the penguin is far too strong. You probably used close to pure white and black for the textures which leaves almost no room for the lighting to work, leaving the whites (eyes) blown out and the blacks just black. lessen the contrast and put a fill light in to act as sunlight bouncing off the snow.
Also pay attention to the drop shadow; it's far too soft to integrate with the sharp ones in the background.

Thankyou wiro for your constuctive crits..
Okay, i've overhauled the lighting (though not yet the drop shadow), and have taken your advice on the black/white issue, using a less definate spec map and lessening the contrast on the colour map.
Which now allows the ruffage bump texture to come through, thankyou..

That looks much better, we can now see more detail. Good luck with the picture!
